[Elysia Cosplay] Pink Elf Snaps at CP30 Comic Convention

The lighting outside the CP30 exhibition hall that day was actually quite challenging, with a complex environment and many overexposed or underexposed areas. Fortunately, the photographer adjusted the color grading toward a cooler tone in post-processing, which highlighted the striking contrast between the pink and blue in the makeup. The core of this styling was the short Pink hair with straight bangs and vivid bright blue contact lenses. To avoid the blue eyes looking rigid, I blended pink eyeshadow extensively under the eyes and across the brow bones, giving the entire look a refined yet cool, innocent feel. The Elf ears were also carefully chosen—they fit snugly and caused no discomfort even after prolonged wear. The Pink hair wig was made of a lightweight material with relatively thick bangs; to match the white hat, I left longer sidelocks on both sides of the forehead to flatter the face shape. For the base makeup, I used a fair shade and made sure to blend it down the neck and hands to prevent noticeable color discrepancies. The blue contact lenses felt slightly dry after wearing them for a long time, so I applied eye drops several times. The makeup looked decent on a phone camera, but under the DSLR lens, I had to touch up the highlighter and blush twice to achieve that translucent glow.

Regarding the outfit, the white short-sleeved top and black corset formed a sharp contrast. The three-dimensional structure of the neckline, combined with the detached white puff sleeves, framed the shoulders beautifully. The black lace-up detailing at the waist gave the silhouette extra depth so it didn’t look flimsy. Since I wasn't wearing tights, the legs weren't the focus of this set; instead, I concentrated on controlling my upper body lines and facial expressions. While the dress featured a flattering cinched waist, putting it on and taking it off was quite a hassle due to the crisscross straps on the back, which were difficult to manage alone. I was grateful to have a friend help tie them that day. Walking around required extra care to prevent stepping on or dirtying the hemline. White garments get soiled so easily, especially in crowded venues where dust clings effortlessly. The corset was quite stiff, so maintaining a straight, chest-out posture throughout the photoshoot was genuinely exhausting.

During the shoot, I paid close attention to adjusting the angle of my head and body. When posing in profile, I had to be careful not to make the Elf ears look too rigid, so I practiced their orientation in the mirror beforehand. With crowds moving around the convention, the shallow depth of field worked wonderfully—the faint white and blue silhouettes of passersby served as great foreground and background elements. I experimented with various micro-expressions, such as glancing down at my fingers and then looking up into the lens, or simply closing my eyes to feel the breeze. My favorite is the third frontal shot: touching my chin lightly with my fingers under soft lighting perfectly showcased the gradient in the eye makeup and the texture of the Pink hair. The poses were referenced from the character's core persona. While I'm naturally quite lively, I needed to portray a more reserved demeanor here. Looking slightly upward made the expression appear confident and uplifting in the frame. I also kept my shoulders consciously lowered to prevent the puff sleeves from making me look broad.

My biggest regret this time was leaving the collar accessory behind at the hotel amid the rush of packing. As a perfectionist, it bugged me a bit because the black-and-white outfit felt slightly incomplete without that neckline detail; however, the convention atmosphere was fantastic and the photos turned out very clean, so I decided to share them anyway. In reality, that collar piece was prone to tangling with the wig hair. When I tried it on, I felt it slightly compromised the side profile of the Elf ears, which is why I left it in my bag. Please excuse the bare neck! The overall styling was quite complete—the black-and-white palette, the contrast of the Pink hair, and the blue contact lens accents provided a solid framework, making it easy to capture great photos at the convention even without the accessory.

Posting this set is mainly to document my styling and test performance under real convention lighting. For sweet, techwear-infused looks like this, poor lighting can easily flatten facial features, but luckily the final outcome turned out luminous and clear. Reviewing the photos also gave me a clear perspective on how different makeup nuances influence expression and posture. A light drizzle fell during the convention day, leaving the ground glossy and mirror-like, which added a subtle tech-futuristic vibe to the cool-toned frame. This reflection paired impeccably with the black-and-white attire, cleanly accentuating the garment silhouettes. I joked with the photographer that this genuine on-site atmosphere could never be replicated in a studio. If I do another character with Pink hair and blue eyes in the future, I will focus even more on achieving an ultra-light, clear base makeup for an even better presentation.
