The moment I saw the starry sky overlapping with the purple sea of flowers, I knew this setting was the most perfect canvas for presenting this character. Carefully arranging the hair strands to ensure that the heart-shaped pattern on the halo and the hair accessories could perfectly match every transition in front of the lens, we finally froze these few frames.
The costume for this shoot didn't rely on overly complex rigid structural supports, but instead emphasized lightness and breathability. The main color scheme selected was pure white, with asymmetric geometric cutouts and crystal-textured decorations at the neckline and chest. Through the built-in faint light, it can present a warm, responsive glowing effect from the inside out in environments with low natural light. This full-body white tulle design, along with large areas of translucent tulle overshirts and sleeves, puts high demands on the extension of limbs during positioning, as any minor wrinkle would destroy the overall flowing feel.
The cooperation with photographer @玖比拾六 this time was highly seamless, and we chose a natural purple sea of flowers as the foreground. In the wide-angle frame, the starry sky and the galaxy can be perfectly seen overhead. The real-world breeze blowing across the sea of flowers and petals, combined with the artificial falling materials, gave the image a cross-dimensional sense of connection. To capture that ethereal expression untouched by the mortal world, I slowed down the rhythm of my movements as much as possible and carefully controlled the direction of my visual focus. Although it wasn't easy to maintain a lightweight posture while wearing a heavy wig and wide hair accessories, seeing the effect of petals sliding down my fingertips in the playback made all the hard work completely worth it.
Actually, during the final styling and makeup process, the part that required the most effort was that ring of glowing decoration suspended above the head; we had to ensure it wouldn't easily slide during the shoot while making it look like an energy ring with its own gravitational field. We adjusted the wearing center of gravity of the headpiece repeatedly to make it maintain symmetrical beauty in both wide-angle and close-up shots. The temperature on the day of the shoot wasn't very high, and since it was an outdoor shoot in the wild, managing expressions in the wind while wearing a thin tulle dress was a bit of a small challenge. However, when immersed in the unique gentleness and detachment of this character, the external temperature seemed to be gradually ignored.
In this outdoor location shoot, I believe the most attractive aspect of this character lies in that tranquil temperament of being in the mortal world yet facing the stars. Without overly flashy postures, just slightly lowering the eyes and raising the arms, as if responding to some call from afar. This set of works is not just a recreation of the costume and makeup, but a pure journey full of possibilities that I want to experience with everyone through the interweaving of light, shadow, and flowers.
At the instant the perspective was frozen, that fairy tale about the savior from beyond was continued in another way. Being able to extend the visual elements from the screen into real light and shadow brings me the greatest satisfaction and joy as a creator.
