When I first got this Shinano design, I was instantly drawn to that deep blue and white color scheme. This convention photography shoot took place in an indoor exhibition hall with huge floor-to-ceiling windows. The light was very translucent, and combined with the soft light from the black photography umbrella, it beautifully captured the texture of the fine starry sky glitter on the skirt hem.
The most challenging part of this entire outfit is the layering—the outer blue tulle is incredibly light, but with the addition of the plush sleeves and collar decorations, the overall look feels quite substantial. The high slit design stretches the leg lines beautifully in both standing and sitting poses. Paired with white chunky-heeled platform shoes, it is convenient for walking around the venue and fits perfectly with the character's elegant gait. The pair of white animal ears and the blue bow on top of my head are the soul of the outfit; to keep the ears from wobbling while walking, I used several layers of hairpins to fix them in place. Although it hurt a bit, the final result was totally worth it.
The day of the shoot was actually quite busy, with people coming and going in the venue, but as soon as I put on this costume, I immediately got into character. The pose in the first picture with one leg lifted is the stance I felt best expressed a sense of lightness after many trials. The center of gravity needs to be stable, and the fan and the other hand should open naturally to form a balanced sense of rhythm. The second and third pictures lean more towards a sense of daily interaction; the moments of looking down to play with the skirt or sitting down actually reveal the character's slightly lazy and delicate side.
As for that lace folding fan, it is not just a prop; it also helps me block out part of the messy background light, making the facial light and shadow softer. The photographer for this convention shoot captured the moments precisely without over-posing. Many actions were recorded while I was adjusting my clothes, and I really like that naturally revealed expression.
Mentioning the line at the beginning of the post, "Have you ever saved a fox on a snowy mountain?", it is actually a little inside joke. The white fox setting itself comes with a mysterious and agile temperament. Although we shot in a modern venue, we still tried our best to recreate that feeling of coolness and tenderness coexisting in the icy and snowy plains through the texture and color coordination of the costume.
Every time I finish a challenging cosplay, I feel a deeper understanding of the character. The tulle material of this costume is very thin and easily snags, so I was extremely careful during the shoot. However, being able to present such a clean visual makes all the hard work worth it. I hope these few photos can make everyone feel the serene yet slightly sweet atmosphere I wanted to convey this time, and I wish everyone can find their own best way of expression on the path of loving cosplay.
