[Castorice cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail—Gorgeous Purple-Toned Live Convention Photos

The moment I stepped beneath the metal trusses of the convention floor in this Castorice styling, it felt completely different from a studio shoot. Yesterday during makeup trials, I worried that the light purple gradient wig might glisten unnaturally under ambient light, but venue lighting actually rendered the hair strand layers remarkably soft. I spent a long time adjusting the angle of the Elf ear style prosthetics so they tucked neatly between my bangs and side locks—neither overly conspicuous nor stealing the spotlight, yet conveying an ethereal fantasy detachment from everyday life. For eye makeup, I intentionally chose a subtle purplish-gray palette over heavy eyeliner; on camera, this gentle expression proved far more fitting for the outfit than dramatic makeup.

The aspect of the costume requiring my utmost effort was the waist-and-hip structure. The upper corset and bustier merged numerous tailored pattern pieces, ensuring the waist cutout shape stayed aligned without shifting while walking, while keeping the chest-to-neck transition natural. The collar bow and neck choker needed to fit snugly against the skin when worn. Decorative details on both sides carry substantial visual weight—especially the skirt hem, where fabrics of differing stiffness in white and purple were combined to create both the structured support of inner heavy box pleats and the breezy floating effect of outer gradient sheer chiffon. I reinforced the small floral accents on the dress with glue to prevent them from dropping off as I navigated convention crowds.

Ultimately, the most captivating aspect of this Purple style outfit lies in its asymmetrical design. A deep purple armlet on my right arm and a semi-transparent long sleeve on my left arm create visual balance. Yet what catches most eyes is the single thigh-high stocking on the right leg, featuring delicate cutouts and strapping details. To achieve a flawless fit along leg contours in photos, we spent considerable time refining its edges during wearing. While the high-heeled booties fit perfectly, the contrast between deep purple geometric color-blocking on the vamp and the light purple shoe body was strikingly prominent in motion.

Of course, this styling is incomplete without the grand weapon prop. The prop boasts magnificent streamlined curves, sprayed in silver-white and light blue with metallic luster along the edges. However, the handle grip is a straight shaft with a forward-heavy center of gravity, severely testing wrist strength during swinging gestures. Positioning the weapon to avoid blocking my face while keeping my arms extended was physically demanding. While the hands-on-hips pose in the third photo was relatively relaxed, the limbs-extended postures in the first and second photos required serious core stability to stay poised.

Thankfully, venue lighting complemented us well. The photographer selected an industrial, high-ceiling hall as our backdrop, where staggered ceiling light strips and truss structures provided a sharp contrast against this light-colored outfit. A shallow depth-of-field blurred away crowd bustle and messy exhibition booths, locking focus entirely on me and the prop.

The ultimate challenge of portraying this look was maintaining a cool, aloof composure. Given the intricate costume construction, walking through crowds makes one sweat easily; yet the second shooting begins, one must instantly reign in facial expressions to exude a calm, slightly detached, yet undeniably elegant aura. Every hair strand direction and every sweeping angle of the skirt hem had to be meticulously controlled before the camera. Though the process was grueling, seeing the color depth and dynamic movement of the skirt in these Convention photos makes all the advance prep and trial-and-error completely worthwhile.
