While out shopping, I passed by the Huawei flagship store just as Wuthering Waves was hosting its Summer Game Fest offline event. The setting was steeped in vibrant atmosphere, and to my absolute surprise, I bumped into a fellow cosplayer embodying Suisui. We hit it off immediately and naturally snapped several sets of photos right in front of the exhibition booth.
Cosplaying Yangyang Xuanying this time around, the wardrobe craftsmanship truly captivated me. The interlaced black-and-gold filigree pattern along the collar exuded premium texture, while semi-sheer black mesh spliced across the shoulders broke up the solid white bodice. The sleeves were designed wide and billowing, floating with effortless grace in motion. Down below, the asymmetrical hem combined blue-and-yellow gradient silks with crimson tie cords, creating dynamic visual dimension. To channel her graceful spirit, I spent extensive effort on the hair: the golden-blonde wig was given airy volume, and her signature ahoge cowlick atop the crown was repeatedly sculpted with hairspray. Accented with crimson hairpieces and hanging tassels, the look came together with immaculate finish. For cosmetics, I focused on the eyes, sweeping crimson eye shadow around the outer corners and cheeks, paired with hazel contact lenses to give my gaze striking depth.
My partner took on Suisui cosplay, rocking jet-black hair with blue-and-white streak highlights and a crimson brow accent. Her black-and-blue combat suit, paired with a pleated mini skirt and tall black boots, highlighted her leg lines beautifully. Posing before the booth, we tried varied stances—raising one leg, forming stylized combat hand gestures, and sharing back-to-back or shoulder-to-shoulder camaraderie. Having a partner beside me eased my nerves completely, and the captured candid instants felt delightfully organic.
On the photography gear side, I brought along the Sony A7R6 paired with the 28-70mm GM and 50-150mm GM lenses. The 28-70mm GM proved exceptionally versatile within the cramped indoor booth space; its wide end documented the Summer Game Fest stage elements harmoniously around our silhouettes while subtly stretching lower body proportions. Meanwhile, the 50-150mm GM was a dream for waist-up portraits—the telephoto spatial compression and silky background bokeh focused all attention squarely on facial expressions and garment details. The A7R6's real-time eye tracking and out-of-camera color science made the workflow effortless, rendering skin textures and rich fabric dyes accurately without demanding heavy post-processing.
Passersby, gamers, and franchise fans showed overwhelming enthusiasm. City skyscrapers visible through the glass curtain wall contrasted vividly against the deep-blue interior backdrop. Daylight pouring through the floor-to-ceiling windows caught the fabric, eliciting a gorgeous reflective sheen. Both our makeup and costumes were prepared with utmost devotion, and capturing our characters' authentic essence during such an impromptu encounter was truly an unforgettable experience. Snapping shots beside life-sized character standees felt like breaking the fourth wall. After wrapping the shoot, we browsed around the Huawei store—a truly flawless day. I eagerly anticipate more spontaneous encounters like this and will continue honing my character styling to deliver even better Anime cosplay creations.
