The photoshoot of Exusiai the New Covenant is finally meeting everyone today. The feeling conveyed by the photos is just as written in the description: May my bullet rain extinguish your pain.
Let's talk about the restoration process of this costume first. The styling of Exusiai the New Covenant is extremely layered, with the black leather jacket being the core of the entire outfit. To make the jacket have a crisp silhouette in front of the lens, we spent a lot of thought on the choice of leather material, ensuring it doesn't reflect excessively under strong light while retaining that tough combat vibe. The inner white clothing features a special cut with black geometric patterns printed on it. This black-and-white contrast combined with the red long hair creates an extremely strong visual impact.
In terms of the wig, creating that fluffy yet tense red short hair took quite a lot of time just for styling. The halo on top of the head is a luminous device. To ensure it still presents a nice halo under the continuous flash of studio shooting, we tested the color temperature several times in a low-light environment. The fixed position of the side ponytail is also very particular; it must match the rotation angle of the head, otherwise it easily gets messy when swung around.
Props are also a key focus of this shoot. The black assault rifle model in hand is actually quite heavy. Coupled with various red-and-black straps, metal badges, and cross ornaments on the body, every time I struck a pose, I needed to keep my center of gravity extremely stable. Especially actions like kneeling on one knee and lifting a leg in the pictures—maintaining balance while wearing thick-soled tactical boots, while also coordinating with the dynamics of the red fine threads and ribbons, is definitely a test for core strength. The details of the gloves cannot be ignored either: half-finger tactical gloves with red wristbands, plus star and stud decorations. These small metal items add a lot of texture to the frame when shooting close-ups.
During shooting, the photographer's control over light and shadow was crucial. The background mainly adopts pure white and light grey, utilizing angular white radial graphics and the white halo behind to construct a sci-fi combat atmosphere. The lighting needs not only to illuminate the character, but also to bring out the texture of the black leather jacket and the white tights cosplay feel of the white stockings. To capture the moment of the ribbons flying, we tried many times, utilizing the cooperation of fans and the actor's movements to make those red-and-black fabrics present the most natural motion.
In terms of action design, I tried my best to embody that crisp and neat feeling usually felt in the game. Raising the gun, squatting, looking back—every frame hopes to convey a confident and effortless state. Although holding heavy firearms in hand, the overall feeling shouldn't be too heavy, retaining a bit of the character's agility. The pairing of white over-the-knee socks and black tactical boots is itself an eye-catching part of the styling, and appropriate display space was deliberately reserved during movements.
The entire studio shooting process was very compact, and everyone continuously adjusted various details on site, from the wrinkles of the clothes to the path of the red strings, and to the angle of the firearms, striving to do our best. Both my team and I are very satisfied with the final output effect, and I hope this set of photos brings everyone a different visual experience.
