[Saigyouji Yuyuko cosplay] Touhou Project: Gorgeous and Elegant Japanese-Style Fitting

I tried on this Saigyouji Yuyuko costume crafted by @JiaomaPaigu, and the overall completion is truly remarkable. The thoughtful design allows multiple styling options—at least two or even three distinct looks—making it incredibly versatile to wear.

The aesthetic combines Lace Japanese style elements with Lolita lace craftsmanship. The bodice is predominantly white, featuring an off-the-shoulder, plunging neckline trimmed with intricate lace that accentuates the collarbones and bustline beautifully. The arms feature voluminous, semi-sheer white sleeves adorned with internal ruffles that flutter gracefully with every movement. The waist and rear train are crafted from deep-blue fabric printed with butterfly motifs, cinched with a broad obi sash and tassels to infuse a classical elegance. The front skirt cascades in multi-tiered white lace, while the floor-length rear train boasts butterfly patterns, creating a captivating visual contrast.

For the head, pink wavy hair is paired with a multi-layered headdress of white lace and frills, accented with purple floral ornaments and red-and-white motifs along the crest. The makeup incorporates pink eyeshadow and eyeliner for a subtle doll-like charm, completed by a soft pale-pink lip. I paired it with a gradient purple-pink folding fan featuring black ribs and exquisite patterning across the leaf.

The lower body is styled with White stockings—wearing over-the-knee socks paired with butterfly-printed platform heeled sandals to visually elongate the leg silhouette. During the shoot, adjusting the tension of the obi sash or detaching the outer sheer sleeves allowed seamless transitions between varied silhouettes. The fabric feels premium to the touch, and the lace is notably soft without irritating the skin. The high-low hemline showcases the White stockings and footwear effortlessly while walking. The fan can be used to half-veil the face or held languidly in hand to evoke a relaxed, graceful poise.

Posing with a slight profile turn while letting the oversized sleeves drape over parts of the arms enhances the layered dimension of the garment. Given the deep neckline, extra care was taken during posing to prevent wardrobe malfunctions. Overall, this fitting experience was delightful; the garment carries a distinct designer flair, with natural drapery and lines that translate brilliantly on camera. This session was primarily a fitting to explore fresh styling concepts and capture flattering angles, delivering a look that effortlessly marries classical and modern aesthetics with an easy, radiant splendor.
