Shooting this Nazrin set was actually a spontaneous decision, but the final photos turned out to perfectly complement the outdoor environment of Xiamen Horticulture Expo Garden. This outfit uses a black-and-white color clash as its main theme, blending the elegance of Lolita with the playful elements of a maid style. The white oversized puff sleeves of the top create a sharp visual contrast with the multi-layered black tiered skirt, and the black straps and buckles at the lower part of the skirt greatly enhance the layers and exquisiteness of this anime-style outfit. To recreate the mouse's characteristics, I put special effort into the makeup and hair, using a medium-long silver-gray wavy wig paired with fluffy animal ears and that thick, curled tail. This tail was actually a bit of a nuisance during the shoot; if I wasn't careful, it would easily droop due to gravity and look awkward. Therefore, being able to maintain a just-right sense of curvature in the frame was entirely thanks to the photographer's precise timing in snapping the shot.

Regarding props, the long rod and wicker basket brought to the outdoor portrait photoshoot this time were highly memorable accessories. The black long rod has a specific bent design; although it looks simple, holding it steadily in hand while maintaining a graceful posture actually heavily tests one's arm strength. For the pose carrying the rod on my shoulder in Figure 4, I also deliberately adjusted the exerting angle of my upper body, trying to find a structural balance. The action of walking while carrying the little basket in Figure 5 aligns more closely with the narrative setting of the little mouse lightly foraging for treasures in the forest. That agile and alert expression was also chosen as the most natural manifestation after multiple attempts.

Choosing Xiamen Horticulture Expo Garden as the shooting location was mainly due to the natural landscape constructed by the bamboo forest and stone bridge. In the afternoon, the sunlight can filter through the gaps between the trees and spill onto the model, forming beautiful backlighting highlights. Especially when hitting the edges of the white lace shirt, it reflects a soft golden outline. The warm-toned atmosphere brought by this natural light adds some warmth to the otherwise primarily black-and-white costume, preventing the image from looking too cold and harsh.

Of course, outdoor portrait photography still faces many practical challenges. Posing while standing on wet, mossy stones requires constant attention to slip prevention. The black hanging straps on the skirt hem also frequently restricted my movement; turning around just a bit too quickly could easily cause them to tangle around my ankles. To present the best frame, the photographer and I repeatedly communicated about the composition. We needed to ensure the proportional relationship between the foreground props and the background bamboo forest while avoiding the character being awkwardly cut by rigid architectural structures. Although the process was busy, receiving the final product made me feel everything was worth it. This attempt to integrate an anime character into a real natural scene always brings unexpected surprises, which is exactly why I have always loved cosplay photography.
