[Ciel cosplay] Attending Comicup in Classic Tsukihime Version: Recognized by Over Ten Fans and Met Up with Tsukihime Remake Senpai

Today I spent the whole day at Comicup cosplaying the classic Tsukihime version of Ciel, and the experience walking around the venue completely exceeded my initial expectations.

Cosplaying this character had actually been brewing in my mind for a long time because, compared to huge blockbuster franchises, Tsukihime has a relatively more niche fanbase. I originally thought that if five people recognized who I was today, that would be enough to move me all day long. As it turned out, walking around throughout the day, as many as ten fellow fans accurately called out my character's name! A veteran fan even chatted with me about some subtle settings and that classic scene from the original Tsukihime. At that moment, I felt that all the hard work I put into rushing this costume over the past few months was completely worth it.

The most delightful surprise of this trip happened while eating at a curry shop, where I unexpectedly ran into a Senpai cosplaying the Tsukihime Remake version from the same series! We hit it off immediately and decided to share a table. The restaurant's signature curry omurice had a generous portion topped with a thick, fluffy egg layer, served alongside a refreshing vegetable salad and an iced lemon tea—the ultimate refueling combo to revive anyone after walking endlessly at an anime convention. Just a few bites after sitting down, as our conversation got lively, we couldn't help but recreate iconic interactions from the story. That's how we ended up with the hilarious scene in the photo: I reached out to pull her blonde wig while she playfully fought back without backing down. Only after taking that photo did we realize a guy at the adjacent table had been staring at us the whole time, probably wondering why two people suddenly started "brawling" in a restaurant!

As the classic Tsukihime version of Ciel, overall visual recognition largely depends on color schemes and details. This time, I chose a bright yellow V-neck knitted sweater vest as an outer layer over a basic white shirt, tying a burgundy bow tie at the collar, matched with a dark blue wig and blue color contacts to complement each other. To fit that iconic facial feature, I specifically wore a pair of thin-framed round glasses. After spending most of the day outdoors today, even though my face became slightly oily, I was still quite satisfied with the overall accuracy. I also brought along the matching acrylic keychain and deliberately held it out in selfies; this small accessory matches the character's vibe really well.

Walking around the event gave me a great sense of accomplishment. Beyond just being recognized, several people stopped me along the way to ask how I put the outfit together, while passersby were drawn in by the bright yellow color scheme to take photos. While chatting with fellow fans, conversation naturally turned to differences between the Remake and the original version, as well as the Tsukihime anime movie project everyone keeps longing for. As a TYPE-MOON fan and a Ciel cosplayer, I genuinely hope this movie project smoothly reaches screens, allowing even more audiences who haven't experienced this world to feel the depth and romance of that moonlit night.

Today at Comicup, I experienced an outpouring of kindness and resonance. Cosplay itself is a process of expressing pure passion; being able to form connections with so many strangers through a single outfit is truly a wonderful experience. I hope I can continue cosplaying more characters I love with this same level of dedication in the future.
