The biggest challenge for a model shooting during the first snow is temperature control. To preserve the pure mood of the snowscape, we chose a wooden cabin area with thick snow buildup, pairing a white-and-blue sailor top with a dark navy pleated skirt. The first photo was shot by the cabin's windowsill. Though slightly warmer indoors, it still demanded stamina and endurance. Sitting on a beige cushion, I adjusted my leg posture so that the white thigh-high stockings and black chunky-heel loafers created a visual contrast and elongating effect. To avoid wardrobe malfunctions with the skirt while showcasing leg lines, I repeatedly adjusted my sitting posture and kept my spine straight. The vintage bookshelf below added a sense of era, giving the entire frame a grounded narrative feel. The long straight black wig behaved well indoors; pairing it with a hair-smoothing gesture added lively body language to the frame, as if genuinely lost in thought. The large black schoolbag beside me served not only as a prop but also provided support for my seated posture, allowing me to secretly tuck my hands near the bag to block the chill when it got especially cold.
The second and third photos were shot in the outdoor snow. The ambient temperature dropped sharply. The snow accumulated on the clear umbrella served as a natural filter, but the posture holding the umbrella had to remain steady, otherwise falling snow would ruin the composition. The outdoor lighting was diffuse with high visibility, requiring my eyes to adapt to the strong glare and ensuring a focused, tranquil gaze the moment the shutter clicked. The snow reflections were intense; practicing eye expressions in front of a mirror beforehand was helpful—reining in the expression slightly helped it look spirited. The crouching pose required even more control over where the skirt hem fell compared to standing to avoid getting soaked by melted snow, while keeping the ankle line angled toward the camera. In crouching shots, the ankle line and shoe angle dictate the visual impact of the entire leg. The textural contrast between the black leather schoolbag and the transparent umbrella added depth to the image.
The theme of this shoot leaned toward a cool, serene aesthetic, often referred to as an authentic School uniform vibe. I believe this classic combination of a sailor suit with White stockings and loafers, set against the snowy landscape, beautifully shapes the aura of a Youth campus heroine. Before shooting, I specifically checked for fabric creases and brushed the wig, taking care while walking in the snow not to get snow onto the White stockings, which would be difficult to clean up in post-production. In particular, the cropped design of the sailor top reveals the waistline, but the trade-off is exposing the waist entirely to the freezing air; wrapping up in a heavy coat during touch-ups was essential to avoid catching a cold.
Shooting in this serene style places high demands on a model's composure. Maintaining a relaxed, comfortable expression in the freezing outdoors without heating requires fully immersing oneself in the first snow setting. In strong winds, the long straight black wig easily tangles, requiring styling wax beforehand or carefully combing each strand so it flows naturally in the breeze without clumping. Since no specific character was referenced, this share mainly revolves around the shooting experience of this Preppy style outfit. The greatest takeaway from shooting on a freezing snowy day is finding the right camera angles and lighting. Once the lighting is dialed in, the fair complexion looks completely natural without needing heavy retouching. When stepping in snow, controlling the pressure on the shoes allows you to show a playful side while maintaining overall pose elegance. First snow memories are always tied to purity and chill, and this experience deepened my understanding of a First snow outfit.
