Let's get right into discussing this official photoshoot. The character this time is Takanashi Hoshino from Blue Archive, and the shoot took place in a built Classroom studio set. To fit the character, the pink wig and the pink halo prop on top were key focuses, requiring repeated adjustments to ensure the rigging wasn't exposed while conveying the character's texture. The outfit chosen was a white shirt with a blue tie, a dark plaid skirt, and white over-the-knee socks—commonly known as White stockings. A school uniform paired with White stockings is a classic 2D outfit that nicely elongates the leg lines and forms a great visual contrast with the colors of the Classroom floor and desks.
In terms of makeup and styling, the emphasis was on the softness of facial contours. Light blue colored contacts were used to match the character's eye features, and the wig was meticulously trimmed to give it more layers. The halo on the head was made of acrylic with noticeable reflections, so special care was needed during shooting to avoid direct overhead light sources, or suppress reflections in post-processing to bring out that translucent texture.
Regarding the poses during the shoot, this photo set captured four main actions. The first was sitting on the edge of the desk with legs dangling and hands tugging at the bow tie, looking well-behaved and slightly demure. The second featured elbows resting on the desk, legs crossed while wearing canvas shoes, presenting a confident and relaxed sitting posture. The third was sitting on the desk raising one hand high, looking very lively. The fourth, which is the cover photo everyone sees, shows me lying prone across the desk with one leg bent and kicked up while the other naturally hung down. This pose not only made the composition fuller but also greatly showcased the texture of the White stockings and the leg lines. Since White stockings naturally reflect light, we specifically adjusted the angle of the key light in the studio and used a large aperture to compress the background, creating a clean, soft campus atmosphere.
Post-processing mainly focused on restoring facial skin tone and the texture of the clothes. Anime-style official photos often require skin tones to be retouched to look more translucent while preserving the texture of the White stockings so they don't look like plastic. For ambient color grading, the overall look leaned toward a warm Japanese style, with moderate light-dark contrast to keep it looking very fresh.
This time in the Classroom, props like a globe, a guitar, and number boards enriched the scene's elements, filling it with everyday lifelike feelings. For instance, the photographer frequently reminded me to adjust the forward angle of my neck and tuck my chin to ensure a more refined face shape in front of the lens. When shooting the second pose wearing shoes, attention was also paid to toe orientation to maintain a stable triangular composition. These details are all crucial for Anime-style photography.
Overall, the fidelity and level of completion were very high. Ultimately selecting this photo as the cover from the set was a comprehensive decision considering body extension and leg display; this dynamic prone pose instantly catches the eye and adds more fun.
