[Scaramouche Cosplay] Cat Ears and Tail Version of the Sumeru Harbinger

Shooting this client set of cat-version Scaramouche coincided perfectly with my scheduled self-photo studio photoshoot booking in Shanghai. Being a high school freshman gave me a unique perspective in interpreting this character. Originally, Scaramouche's setting inherently carries a cool and tsundere aura, but adding the cute elements of cat ears and a cat tail created a fascinating gap moe. Therefore, the tone I set for this photoshoot was to preserve the character's original presence while accentuating it with a cat's signature laziness and agility.

In terms of costume and makeup accuracy, this outfit actually features a wealth of details. For the wig, I selected a dark bluish-purple short wig with smooth fibers, which worked excellently for daily touch-ups and fitting under the hat. The eye makeup used blue contact lenses with red lower lid lining to recreate Scaramouche's signature cold, sharp gaze, which balanced with my naturally rounded face shape to seamlessly blend in a \"cute\" quality. The highlight of the entire costume was the oversized hat with golden ring ornaments and a red-and-black lining. The moment I put it on, it filled out the silhouette completely; though a bit heavy, it was undeniably the soul prop of the shoot.

During the session, the Shanghai cosplay photography team gave me plenty of creative freedom, utilizing a wonderfully rich set of scenes. The first set was a solid-color studio shoot where sitting on the floor highlighted the charm of the cat elements—natural leg positioning paired with a thoughtful chin-in-hand pose perfectly fit the \"tsundere cat\" vibe I wanted. The second set featured a Japanese home style with tatami mats and woven straw pillows; warm yellow light fell across my face, and looking up at the camera while lying down instantly brought out a relaxed feeling.

The set I found most creative was holding a samurai sword alongside a chess board. I originally thought it would look very serious, but the photographer flexibly utilized props, letting me hold the sword while keeping a relaxed sense of strategic tension in my eyes. Incorporating playing cards and international chess in figure six was super clever, making it seem as though the character was caught in a high-stakes game. The lighting director specially adjusted an amber ambient light, which, paired with the red gauze drapes in the background, maxed out the storytelling feel.

When shooting with cat ears and a cat tail, making the tail look natural requires quite a bit of skill because it isn't fixed directly to the waist, requiring frequent repositioning to avoid showing flaws. Fortunately, the self-photo studio venue was spacious, giving us plenty of time to refine these fine details. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this work because it combines the stubbornness and sensitivity of Scaramouche from Genshin Impact with the pure clarity unique to a high school freshman, bringing even more vibrancy to this Cute cat cosplay set. Whether posing coolly with the hat or taking it off to zone out with cat ears exposed, the character's core essence was preserved. Crafting a work with carefully planned props, light, and shadow in a dedicated studio serves as a wonderful milestone and personal improvement for me.
