Sharing a set of Genshin Impact Shenhe cosplay photos. Preparations for this shoot took considerable time. Starting with the costume fitting, the black halter neck paired with semi-sheer mesh required careful handling to prevent wardrobe malfunctions. Furthermore, the hanging tassels and metallic buckles along the legs sway while walking; while a defining visual accent, they can easily cause awkward angles, so positions had to be constantly managed. In terms of cosmetics, as part of this character's Makeup sharing, the eye makeup incorporated cool-toned shimmer to match her aura, which, alongside the silver wig, sculpted sharper facial definition. The placement of hair accessories was deliberately adjusted against the original design; the asymmetrical ornaments effectively heightened the character's aloof elegance. For props, I prepared a folding fan and an oiled paper umbrella. Holding the fan fostered a calm, composed presence, while the oiled paper umbrella was ideal for pulling back into wide shots, coordinating with the long gown and the warm glow of lanterns to enrich visual depth.
This shoot experimented with two distinct camera angles and lighting setups. The first was a close-up focusing on the jacquard patterns of the fabric and the cutout mesh across the chest, paying close attention to interactions between gaze and hands to evoke narrative depth. The second was a full-body shot; beyond showcasing body contours, the goal was to highlight the flowing drape of the skirt hem and the warm ambiance around the lanterns. Inside the studio, we utilized lighting with warm and cool contrast—cool light cast onto the background calligraphy curtain and warm light illuminating the subject—creating a quiet yet striking visual tension.
Regarding eyeshadow application, to emphasize a cool porcelain complexion, I opted for cool-toned cosmetics, avoiding excessive warm tones on the face. The shooting process tested patience; for instance, waiting for fabric folds to fall naturally often meant holding a single pose for a long duration. In designs infused with Chinese-style photography elements, the texture of accessories often determines the overall polish. Details on the headwear and stitching along the hem had to be scrutinized through the lens to avoid distracting from the main subject. On set, I also used a reflector to add subtle fill light when necessary, ensuring the skin looked luminous and clear. Just adjusting the skirt length and slit placement took shifting through multiple angles to scout the best perspective. We also paid special attention to whether the lantern obstructed my face, and I am very satisfied with the final composition we achieved. Spending half our time fine-tuning subtle details on the metal ornaments slowed our pace, but the finished texture of this cosplay work was well worth the effort.
