Today, I'm sharing my Kinako cosplay. The essence of this character isn't complicated costume design, but that languid yet curious feline state. For an accurate portrayal of this Kemonomimi girl, I chose a flaxen blonde long straight wig, trimmed the blunt bangs, and paired it with green contact lenses. For makeup, I swept pink blush across a wide area to simulate a little animal's shy or excited flush. The red leather collar serves as the visual centerpiece, accented with a small metal pendant to add a touch of detail.
As for the outfit, I picked an oversized white short-sleeved T-shirt with blue and red graphic prints on the chest, perfectly recreating that relaxed, stay-at-home Catgirl cosplay vibe. I chose to go barefoot without shoes or socks, which feels much more like a little creature scampering around the house. The fluffy ears and long tail are the soul of the look; to make them appear dynamic on camera, the curve of the tail needed constant adjustment so it wouldn't look stiff.
To capture the feeling of a cat in a box for this Cardboard box photo shoot, we prepared a large kraft cardboard box. Shooting while curled up inside the box was actually quite challenging: the space was cramped, requiring me to stretch my leg lines out as much as possible while keeping my upper body relaxed. The pose where I peeked over the rim with only my ears showing took several takes to catch that playful, peeping-from-the-shadows feel. This composition aimed to create geometric interaction between the subject and the box edges so the frame wouldn't feel overly confined.
Later, we moved to the bed, and my poses shifted from constrained to relaxed. While lying prone, pressing my center of gravity down and relaxing my shoulders showcased the smooth lines running from my back to the tail. When kneeling by the window, lightly touching my lips with a finger while gazing into the lens added a sense of interaction. In the shot with the vase, the photographer captured the candid moment of handing over a flower, with an expression of slight curiosity and obedience.
