[Kinako cosplay] Natural Atmosphere lawn photoshoot diary

Today, I shot a set of photos full of natural Atmosphere on the lawn, and the overall feeling was very relaxed. In fact, lawn photography is quite demanding on lighting; I specifically chose the time slot around 4 PM today, as the light is softer and avoids the problem of overhead lighting causing excessive facial shadows. I found a patch of thick grass so that whether sitting or lying down, it would feel much more comfortable. The overall tone aims for a fresh and natural route, so the green lawn was chosen as the main background.
The outfit this time focuses mainly on white and blue. The upper body is a loose white short-sleeve T-shirt with a green fish pattern, and the lower body wears blue denim shorts, paired with white over-the-knee Stockings. I wore a Cat ears hair accessory on my head, tied a red collar around my neck, and did a simple styling with the golden wig. The combination of white over-the-knee Stockings and shorts can very well elongate the leg lines visually, which is why I chose this pairing. In terms of makeup, the eye makeup emphasizes the color of the eyelashes and pupils, maintaining an overall translucent feel. The pattern on the T-shirt is very recognizable and also a clever little touch for the entire styling.
To increase the richness of the frame, I specially prepared a half-open corrugated cardboard box and an orange-and-white striped plush fish toy. The cardboard box, acting as a background prop, increases the layering and storytelling feel of the frame, making the ordinary lawn scene less monotonous. The plush fish is a great interactive tool that can be hugged to the chest, placed near the face, or held casually in hand, resolving the stiffness of not knowing how to pose. During the shoot, I tried my best to relax my body, lying sideways or flat, keeping my legs naturally bent, and utilizing the obstruction of the cardboard box and the extension lines of the lawn for composition.
The key to lawn photography is moving and relaxing. Don't stare dead at the lens; you can try closing your eyes to feel the sunlight or looking at the props in your hand. Try different angles more often; top-down shots can make a person look more petite and cute, while low-angle upward shots can avoid the cluttered background of the lawn. Utilize natural light to give the subject a slight rim light on the edges. For expression management, you can imagine yourself as a cat sunning on the lawn. Because wearing white over-the-knee Stockings while moving around on the grass meant constantly being careful not to let the stockings get stained with too much grass juice and mud, this was also a small interlude during the shooting process. The overall tone was later adjusted to be slightly greener and warmer, adding a bit of film grain to make the photos more textured.
In addition, wigs are actually very easily blown messy by the wind during outdoor photography, so I used styling spray in advance and would use a comb to tidy up the hair ends at any time during breaks in shooting to keep them smooth and neat. The material of the denim shorts is relatively stiff, forming a contrast with the soft T-shirt, which also shows great layering performance in front of the lens. In fact, a lot of the time, the tension of a photo comes from details, such as fingers gently touching the hair ends or the flow of the gaze. The photographer is very important in this process, needing to constantly communicate the desired image feel—whether it's a lively dynamic feel or a quiet Atmosphere. I would also adjust the tilt angle of my head and the degree of relaxation of my shoulders based on feedback. The entire shooting process was very pleasant; feeling the natural wind outdoors, coupled with the blessing of sunlight, resulted in a very high photo output rate. Choosing this lightweight outfit was also considering that moving around on the grass is relatively convenient, allowing me to easily handle various lying and resting poses.
