[Cheshire Cosplay] Azur Lane Cheongsam Outfit: Casual Photos and Styling Tips

I put on this Azur Lane Cheshire Cheongsam cosplay outfit and took a few photos indoors. I wanted to take this time to chat about the styling details and my thoughts on how the shots turned out.

When I first got this outfit, my immediate impression was that the vibrant red base color really brightened my complexion. The fabric texture combines the standing collar of a traditional cheongsam with gold embroidered patterns along the sides, blending traditional Chinese elegance with anime-style lightness. The translucent mesh panelling at the shoulders paired with white lace trim exposes just the right amount of skin, feeling neither restrictive nor plain while adding lovely depth. The fluffy white trim at the hem combined with over-the-knee lace thigh-high socks pulls the visual focal point downward, nicely elongating the leg lines.

As for accessories, the wig and headpiece required the most effort this time. The pair of large white fluffy animal ears on top utilizes a built-in skeleton frame, with red flowers and lace ruffles attached on the inner side to enhance three-dimensional depth on the head as a kemonomimi girl look. The teal-and-green highlighted wig captures Cheshire's signature hair color features wonderfully, displaying a very natural sheen under warm home indoor lighting. The massive fluffy tail is another visual centerpiece of this outfit—it's super fluffy, and the white plush texture feels exceptionally soft to the touch.

For camera placement and angles, I chose to shoot directly using the front camera of my phone for an anime style selfie. While taking selfies, staying seated and adjusting the slight bend of my legs paired with the large orange-slice patterned round rug on the floor created a great backdrop. The high-saturation warm orange-red background echoed the red of the outfit perfectly without making the upper portion of the frame feel plain. This angle allows me to stay naturally relaxed while showcasing my shoulder lines and the lengthened legs wrapped in thigh-high socks, resulting in a very full and balanced composition.

Although this outfit lacks the heavy visual punch of armor, its bright red palette and dynamic design represent a high-spirited state of mind. When wearing costumes with large plush animal props, storage and maintenance require extra care. The inside of the tail actually has a shaped support frame, so during shooting you need to adjust your balance to let it drape naturally alongside your leg. If plush props are compressed under heavy pressure for too long, the fur can easily tangle, so after shooting I always comb gently along the fur direction to maintain its fluffiness.

Rather than chasing 100% hardcore accuracy, enjoying the inherent charm of the character itself is the mindset I want to maintain most in cosplay right now.
