When shooting this Pure White Oath set for Iochi Mari cosplay from Blue Archive, what I wanted to recreate most was the serene tranquility within a sacred church. This look features an abundance of costume details—the cascading layers of the pure white lace skirt appear airy, but are actually quite heavy. To preserve the skirt's fluffiness and natural drape, considerable effort went into garment care before the shoot. The white floral headpieces, the glowing halo, and the blue-and-white bouquet in hand all needed firm fixation in advance to maintain their precise form in motion.

For makeup and hair, I opted for long pale-blonde curls with blunt bangs. To faithfully convey the character's innate naturalness and purity, the eye makeup deliberately enlarged the eyes, using light blue colored contact lenses to brighten the gaze, accompanied by a light dusting of soft pink blush on the cheeks, with the base makeup kept as clean and sheer as possible to minimize cakiness. Because the objective was capturing a pristine pure white feel, choosing the right foundation was particularly critical—too heavy looks muddy, while too light fails to hold up under the studio lighting.

The location for this shoot was an authentic indoor church featuring soaring stained glass windows and arched structures. The photographer utilized backlighting to shine through the hanging white veils, creating a remarkably soft diffuse reflection effect. Because the natural light pouring through the windows shifted rapidly, we had to capture our core shots within a strict time window. For instance, the backlit close-ups were taken around two to three in the afternoon when sunlight slanted inwards, an angle that beautifully highlighted the translucence of the wig fibers.

During the shoot, I continuously coordinated my positioning with the photographer. Since the skirt was expansive, navigating the steps was slightly cumbersome—stepping on the hem was an easy slip-up, necessitating constant postural adjustments. In terms of posing design, I deliberately incorporated interactive gestures. Given the concept of being together with Sensei, one shot reaching out a hand required focused eye contact, as if genuinely speaking to the person before me. To avoid stiff expressions while shooting, I made a conscious effort to imagine the internal emotions of the moment, lending a softer, more natural warmth to my gaze.

In post-processing, the photographer applied delicate soft-focus glow adjustments to the Church light and shadow, steering the overall atmosphere toward the sacred and ethereal. For this character, shaping the eyes' expression and establishing the overarching holy atmosphere are paramount. Furthermore, thanks to the inherent lace and sheer textures of the outfit, it maintains an intricate elegance despite being modest in coverage. During framing, we also avoided pushing the subject against the edges of the frame to ensure visual breathing room.

It must be said that this Pure White Oath costume is brimming with detail, placing high demands on patience and communication throughout the Cosplay photography process. The overall shoot went very smoothly; facing the church's stained glass and holy light made it effortless to step into the character's gentle essence. Whether harmonizing with ambient light or staging props like bouquets and veils, everything served to highlight the clean, sacred qualities of the character.
