[Chrysos Heirs Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail, A Group Gathering at the End of the West Wind

Concentrating on sharing this outdoor group photoshoot of the Chrysos Heirs from Omphalos in Honkai: Star Rail, chatting about our authentic experiences with costume textures, makeup details, and on-site scheduling during this shoot.

The overall scale of costumes and props for this photoshoot was quite large. Whether it was reshaping armor, stacking various metallic accessories, or ensuring large weapons looked impressive on camera, early preparations consumed immense effort. To guarantee armor textures held up under different light conditions, our fabric and armor primer were finely polished, while wigs underwent three-dimensional trimming and color blending tailored to character features—ensuring high-accuracy visual presentation even under intense outdoor daylight.

We chose an outdoor garden featuring classical domes and Roman columns as our location. The architectural textures and stone reflections here aligned wonderfully with the epic feel of our looks. Morning sunlight was clear and bright, so we mainly utilized natural sunlight to highlight costume highlights and metallic details, pairing them with multiple long-shaft weapons to capture a tense pre-battle assembly feel. The most effort-intensive part was Group cosplay composition from noon to afternoon: with many participants having different prop sizes and positions, we constantly adjusted spatial perspective between foreground and background—ensuring front-row characters had sufficient facial and outfit details while maintaining sharp silhouettes for those in the back, all while watching the wind's effect on wig and cape movement.

As afternoon sunlight turned gentle, we shot several single-character close-ups and two-person interactions on the stone steps by the fountain pool. Light during this timeframe was perfect for capturing character demeanor, especially silk fabrics and light gauze, which appeared layered and ethereal under dappled light. We used reflectors for soft fill light on facial areas, making skin tones and makeup textures look more translucent and effectively dampening oily shines and pitch-black shadows that often plague outdoor lighting.

Come evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, we began night shooting in front of the domed architecture. Lacking high-power ambient light on set, we used warm-toned lights shining outward from inside the building, framing character silhouettes via backlighting while using golden reflective cloth on the ground to bounce warm light back onto front profiles—creating a cinematic atmosphere of interlaced warm and cool tones. This lighting scheme placed extremely high demands on team positioning, requiring everyone to precisely control their body angles relative to light sources to prevent misaligned reflections.

Before wrapping up at night, the team sat in scattered group formations on the steps under the dome, surrounded by gathered weapons and scattered bright props, freezing that epic atmosphere featured in the main cover photo. High-intensity realistic shooting truly tests everyone's energy and physical stamina, but precisely because of this, we could present visuals truest to Chrysos Heirs cosplay in the real atmosphere at the "end of the west wind." From setting early plans to clearing away dozens of props at wrap-up, every step offered much to review; the team chemistry forged during shooting and the captured real textures were our most core rewards.
