When capturing this Yu Linglong series, the primary challenge was conveying her distinct blend of coquettish charm and gentle tenderness. My solution was to build a studio scene completely around a Pink set design. The substantial props behind me—including the gilded European high-back chair, the oversized brown bear plush, and stacks of pink gift boxes—were rented from prop houses in advance to complement the floral wallpaper, crafting a visual mood of being delicately cherished. The wardrobe is a custom-tailored translucent halter-neck lace dress, paired with a bespoke pink wig and white plush animal-ear accessories; internal frames for both the ears and tail were reinforced so they wouldn't shift or fall off during dynamic pose adjustments. Because the fabric is so lightweight and breathable, it floated beautifully on camera, though the lone drawback was how prone it was to creasing—requiring dedicated time to smooth out the folds after every movement.
For posing, experimenting with contrasting attitudes worked wonderfully. In the first shot, I rested my chin in both hands with closed eyes and a gentle smile, centered cleanly within the frame to showcase the leg lines and tiered layers of the skirt while highlighting the garment's fine embroidery. The second shot shifted into a seated posture with lowered gaze, reclining back against the giant teddy bear to evoke effortless languor. Because the set lighting leaned warm and bright—a high-key, low-contrast scheme—post-processing posed a true test of highlight and shadow control to prevent blown-out whites, demanding careful work on skin-tone calibration and background blending. Posing barefoot on the red-and-pink checkered floor felt quite chilly and easily picked up smudges, requiring the assistant to wipe down the floor between takes. Furthermore, at these shooting angles, the tension of the leg contours and ankle alignment were paramount; slight shifts between flexing and relaxing produced vastly different moods. During pre-production, I referenced numerous official character illustrations and in-game animations to channel her signature expressions naturally without looking forced. This summarizes the full chronicle of portraying an Animal-eared girl in this immersive shoot.
