Retouching this set of photos for Yu Linglong's Unrestrained Spring skin took much longer than usual. For every single shot, I spent extensive time communicating and fine-tuning the texture, lighting, and scene atmosphere with the retoucher. To capture that ethereal, fox-spirit languor of Yu Linglong—part divine, part demon—in the Unrestrained Spring skin, I tested numerous hair and makeup options during early prep. The wig was chosen in a muted, gray-toned light purple with layered cuts, and plush animal ears were secured to both sides of the crown, giving a natural bounce as I moved. In terms of makeup, the outer corners of the eyes were blended with purplish-red to accentuate the alluring charm of fox-like eyes, paired with golden claw finger armor and wrist cuffs to faithfully reproduce the opulent details of the character's design.
The venue was set in a traditional antique wooden interior, where dark carved screens and a daybed naturally carried a heavy sense of history. To break up this solemnity, I slipped into this airy white-and-purple tulle dress. The multi-layered, translucent tulle gained extraordinary depth and texture under the lights. The scene was lavishly adorned with white plum blossoms, alongside blue-and-white porcelain vases and fresh grapes arranged as props. Going barefoot with white plush cuffs around the ankles was meant to visually enhance the character's affinity with nature. During the shoot, I reclined sideways on the wooden daybed, using the fluffy volume of the plush blanket to accentuate the overall softness. To pull off the crossed-leg sitting pose in photo two, I had to keep my core engaged without leaning on external support, all while keeping my facial expression relaxed and languid. The falling petals were captured in motion using an on-site fan, and because the tulle fabric blows out very easily under intense lighting, the photographer specifically added diffusion paper to preserve the translucent texture of the dress.
The on-site shooting was actually quite demanding: the wooden daybed was hard, making holding these postures for extended periods a real test of stamina for my back and waist. Furthermore, when striking semi-reclined and hand-raising poses, the long golden claw rings occasionally snagged the tulle fabric, requiring careful adjustments every single time. The plush blankets in the scene also shed fur easily; shortly after we started shooting, my clothes and the surroundings were covered in fine lint, needing constant cleaning to keep the frames neat and clean. During post-processing, the main focus was refining the misty background ambience, preserving natural skin texture, and enhancing the subtle sparkle of fine glitters. Despite the tedious process, seeing that cool yet dreamy, intoxicating atmosphere in the final images made all the effort entirely worthwhile. The Unrestrained Spring design is inherently flowing and graceful, so I tried to keep my body relaxed to embody that unearthly detachment laced with sharp edge. From makeup styling and shooting to post-production, I oversaw every single step—not out of distrust toward the team, but out of an earnest desire to accurately express Yu Linglong's aesthetic beauty. Huge thanks to the photographer for their patience, and to the retoucher for pulling late-night shifts. I hope everyone can feel the distinctive charm of Unrestrained Spring through this photo set.
