Shooting Yixuan's 'Chalcedony Ice Heart' look was a continuous process of fine-tuning details from the moment I received the costume to the final delivery. The wig is a silvery-white long curly style; to achieve that doll-like texture—naturally draping yet subtly voluminous—I worked through layers using ample hairspray and flat irons. The positioning of the headpiece's bows and black hairpins was repeatedly verified against the original artwork to ensure nothing shifted during broader movements. For the eyes, I specifically chose amber-gold contact lenses paired with reddish eyeshadow subtly sweeping upward at the outer corners to deepen the gaze. The base makeup pursued an impeccably fair, porcelain finish while preserving a natural, breathable skin glow beneath the highlighters.

The outfit is packed with fine craftsmanship. This white modified Chinese mini dress features jacquard fabric with subtle woven textures, revealing delicate tonal shifts under varying light. Black piped borders trace a qipao-inspired silhouette seamlessly blended with modern dress tailoring. The white sheer tulle sleeves on the arms feature lace embroidery; to keep hand gestures fluid, I adjusted the elastic tension at the cuffs. When donning the garment, the multi-layered sheer hem required careful fluffing to ensure separation and depth without sticking together. The black straps and neck choker were also fitted multiple times, as any looseness would break the snug tailoring.

The shooting took place indoors amidst carved wooden screens and pink cherry blossom sets, complemented by a plush white fur rug. The overall palette was balanced between white, pink, and warm wood tones, anchored by black accents. The first side-sitting pose focused on elongating leg lines and conveying an effortless, languid mood, with bare feet reinforcing the character's ethereal, otherworldly persona. Lighting utilized a large softbox as the key light, with rim backlighting tracing the hair strands and body silhouette to give the skin a radiant, translucent look. The second kneeling pose holding a folding fan required an upright spine and angular arm placement, meeting the camera lens with a direct gaze to evoke a more playful charm. The tassel on the folding fan was gently flicked by an assistant off-camera during shooting to introduce subtle dynamic motion.

The greatest challenge during the shoot was preserving genuine skin texture; post-processing deliberately retained subtle skin pores and tones rather than over-smoothing into an artificial doll look. In terms of posing, the side-sitting pose required engaging the core while folding the legs naturally—holding this stance for extended periods caused my legs to go numb, but holding through was essential for the final shots. The kneeling pose required resting my weight back onto my heels while opening up the shoulder and back lines. The team experimented with various lighting setups, moving from front light to side light to capture the softest gradations. Shifting between these two stances allowed us to bring out the multifaceted depth of the character in three dimensions.
