[Durandal Cosplay] Doujin Magical Girl Look Creation Share from Honkai Impact 3rd

This time, I'm sharing a Magical Girl-themed doujin outfit inspired by Durandal from Honkai Impact 3rd. When creating this look, the intricate costume details were what struck me first, and the overall pink-and-white color palette translated exceptionally well under studio lighting. The halter top design nicely accentuates the neck and shoulder lines, while the yellow four-leaf clover embellishment at the collar subtly echoes the color of the small bow on the chest. The pink-and-white diamond argyle belt clearly demarcates body proportions; paired with the multi-layered skirt hem, slight movements or turns generate lovely dynamic motion.

Much thought was put into the accessories as well. For instance, these white thigh-high socks featuring pink crisscross lines paired with black Mary Jane shoes form a classic combination for Magical Girl outfits, visually lengthening leg proportions nicely. The detached white sleeves and gloves allow uninhibited movement when posing with heart gestures or waving the magic wand, and the subtle sheen of the white leather adds a great touch.

Preparing the wig and props was crucial for overall character fidelity. I used a long blonde wig styled into a high ponytail with a pinkish-orange gradient at the tips. Combined with plush animal ears and elf ears at the top, the hair texture looked natural under studio lights. The magic wand in hand was actually quite heavy in real life; it features a light-colored handle with a star-and-flower design at the tip coated in glossy gold, blue, yellow, and pink finishes. Taken together, it carries a strong sense of completeness, and the detailed surface reflections under studio lighting were a huge plus.

For makeup, the focus was kept on a clean, translucent base while emphasizing eye contours. Blue contact lenses were used to fit the character's original traits, paired with slightly curled lashes and a defined lip color to enhance facial three-dimensionality on camera, making the eyes appear brighter and more expressive. The entire photoshoot was a balancing attempt between recreating character essence and embracing doujin 2D creative freedom—aiming to convey both the sweetness of a Magical Girl and the character's vibrant vitality through facial expressions and poses.

During the studio session, I tried several standing postures and hand dynamics to highlight the outfit's features. For instance, slightly lifting one leg showcased the sleek lines created by the white thigh-high socks and shoes, while close-ups with hand-heart gestures appeared more lively while showcasing glove and sleeve details. Although holding the heavy wand while posing left my arms sore and required frequent pauses to adjust balance, this authentic effort is precisely what makes participating in cosplay so rewarding.

The studio lighting played a big role this time: softboxes delivered very even illumination, beautifully bringing out the glossy sheen of the pink satin skirt hem and the textures of the white socks and gloves. Choosing a clean, light pink background kept color harmony intact without distracting from the character or props. The skirt actually contains internal support structures so that even under high or eye-level angles, the silhouette never collapses—a clear testament to the thoughtful craftsmanship.

Regarding fabric materials, glossy satin and finely textured fabrics were primarily used, alongside an exquisite round accessory adorned with a blue gem at the waist. During the shoot, I intentionally adjusted camera angles to capture these fine details; beyond front-facing and full-body compositions, I took plenty of half-body and side close-ups to present every aspect of this look.

Reflecting on the entire journey from garment prep, wig trimming, and prop mounting to the final shoot, despite physical fatigue, seeing this pink-and-white styled look come to life with ideal final photos brought a deep sense of accomplishment. Interpreting Durandal from Honkai Impact 3rd through doujin fan creation added a personal touch within the character's framework. I hope this pink Magical Girl rendition delivers a refreshing visual surprise.
