[Genshin Impact Escoffier Cosplay] Recreating the Splash Art of the Pastry Chef

Today, I'm sharing some photography reflections from this set of official photos recreating the Genshin Impact Escoffier splash art. My core idea was to capture the confident yet slightly playful pastry chef vibe from her official illustration, so I tried my best to stay true to the character's charm in both costume details and physical expressions.

Regarding the costume, the design of this white-and-red dress was quite a test for the tailoring pattern. Large areas of white paired with black-and-red bows and skirt patchwork balance cuteness with crispness. To capture the layering from the splash art, I added black-and-red lines at the waist along with a few golden accents, making it visually very rich. The ultimate crowning touch is definitely that white chef's hat and the iconic large cowlick on top of my head. The styling of the hair needed to be sufficiently perky and supported to recreate that light, fluid feeling from the original concept art, giving it that perfect Anime cosplay look.

For the lower body, I chose white mesh/checkered tights, paired with webbing straps and buckle details at the thighs, which visually elongated my leg lines. For the shoes, I specially picked black chunky heels with gold trim, which look substantial yet playful, perfectly echoing the black elements of the skirt hem.

For the makeup, the focus was placed on the eyes. Since the character's eye color is an exceptionally clear blue, I used colored contact lenses and eyeshadow to emphasize the luster in her gaze. Paired with the warm orange wig, the overall color tone is highly vibrant. The lip color chosen was a soft peach red, which doesn't look too aggressive and fits the cozy, warm indoor atmosphere better.

For the shooting set, we deliberately chose an indoor scene with excellent lighting, where sunlight filtered through white sheer curtains, creating exceptionally soft light. The environment was arranged with a sofa covered in white cloth, wooden bookshelves, an oil painting of a white cat on an easel, as well as a small wooden table and cake props nearby, highlighting a comfortable corner full of everyday life vibe.

In terms of action design, I held that large light-blue ladle and a slice of pink cake, casually sitting on the sofa or the floor. Throughout the shoot, I continuously worked to create that relaxed and spontaneous snapshot feel, as if I were genuinely preparing an afternoon tea dessert. Poses like holding the spoon and extending it forward, or gently leaning forward while cradling the small cake, both showcased the character's liveliness and approachability.

The shooting of this photo set is all thanks to the photographer's mastery of light and angles, beautifully capturing that unique mix of confident sunshine and gentle softness inherent to the character. Although preparing the numerous props for this shoot was quite tedious, as a Cosplayer, seeing the final presented images made me feel deep down that all the effort was entirely worth it. The cozy home vibe fused perfectly with the character's unique chef temperament, creating a photography set I'm highly satisfied with.
