During this Meizhou photoshoot booking, I have always pursued how to precisely restore Xingqiu's scholarly temperament of a 'bookworm'. To build this artistic conception, we deliberately selected scenes with strong Chinese aesthetics. Large amounts of calligraphic rice paper as a background, combined with ancient books, tea sets, and a sword, jointly created a private study room that is quiet and full of scholarly atmosphere.
In shooting details, the use of light and shadow is very important. The faint light shining through the window lattice gave the ink marks on the rice paper and the texture of the clothing a more delicate feel, and also added a touch of water-like liveliness to the whole set of pictures. As a Cosplayer, what I am most fascinated by is capturing the character's introverted emotions. Xingqiu is not only lively; he also has the profoundness and coldness belonging to a scholar. In front of the lens, I kept trying to interpret his unique charm immersed in words and poetry through the focus of my eyes and the micro-adjustment of my posture. Each composition tries different angles, from the bird's-eye view showing the vastness of the book sea to the side close-up showing the chill of the sword shadow, striving to restore the character's multi-faceted nature as the poet of water.
The texture of this costume combined with this environment makes the final presentation of this cosplay very consistent with my expectations. I hope that everyone can feel the indifference and elegance belonging to Xingqiu in these photos. Thanks to Mutou for the professional capture, allowing every detail to be perfectly presented.
