This photoshoot for Cyrene Cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail took quite a bit of time, from costume preparation to shooting execution. Today happens to be the Qixi Festival; although the outfit's palette leans dreamy and ethereal, sharing this work amidst the festive ambiance feels wonderfully fitting.
The design of this entire outfit is extraordinarily meticulous, with white as the primary tone. The upper body adopts a sleeveless off-the-shoulder cut, beautifully showcasing the collarbones and shoulder lines. The detachable white lantern sleeves are a major highlight of this attire—featuring spliced openwork lace patterns at the cuffs that not only add layered depth but also soften the overall silhouette. However, during actual wear, these detachable sleeves require careful fastening; otherwise, they easily slip down when bending over or waving arms.
The lower skirt employs a multi-tiered sheer tulle patchwork technique, naturally transitioning visually from pure white to soft lavender and blue-purple. The high-low asymmetrical cut flatters the leg lines when shooting from the front, while turning around reveals the multi-layered floor-length tulle trailing gracefully in the breeze, creating an ethereal, fairy-like grace. Notably, while the fabric appears light and breezy, the multiple layers of the skirt and inner lining give it noticeable physical weight when worn.
The longbow held in hand is the true soul of this photo set in this Girl photography session. The main body of the bow features a metallic silver-white finish with a delicate matte texture, while both limbs are adorned with gradient purple and pink lusters that shimmer like gemstones under the lights. The bowstring is made of an ultra-fine pink cord, creating an intriguing contrast between delicate fragility and the bow's opulent, solid heft. To project the dynamic tension of drawing a bow before the lens, I had to grip the riser firmly with my left hand while lightly pinching the string with my right. This posture demanded commanding presence while preserving graceful body curves, posing quite a test for muscle control.
For hair and makeup, I chose a moderately saturated pink short wig, styled with airy lightness to complement custom pointed Elf ears accessories, instantly elevating the character's otherworldly, mythical aura in this cosplay. The white openwork halo on my head was the crowning touch; beyond framing the head contour, it had to be cleverly integrated with a long veil and pinned into the wig roots to prevent shifting during movement. The makeup avoided heavy, intense colors, emphasizing a clean, translucent base foundation and light-toned eye makeup echoing the garment's palette, finished with subtle lip color for an elegant, enchanting demeanor.
This shoot was primarily done in a studio. The photographer utilized soft lighting to distinguish textures between the light-grey backdrop and the ornate garments. Strong light cast across the white tulle and headpieces created gorgeous transitions between highlights and shadows, rendering the tulle textures clearly visible. During the shoot, I chose lighthearted motions like glancing back and raising my arms, striving to capture those confident, poised moments of stepping forth lightly.
Recreating an anime character's essence requires not only exquisite costumes and props, but also precise emotional control during the shoot. Even when wearing a heavily layered gown, one must avoid appearing weighed down, maintaining an easygoing composure alongside an aura of mystique.
