Choosing a rain-washed bamboo forest and courtyard stone platform in early summer as the location for this Apothecary Maomao cosplay photoshoot, the overall color grading leans toward a translucent, cool green tone. The wig consists of dark green long straight hair with straight bangs, and the hair bow on top and the hair bundles on both sides are meticulously fastened with pink and cyan hair ties. In terms of costume, the grey-green cross-collar top is paired with light green patchwork at the cuffs, and the lower body features a wide red skirt, which gives a strong sense of layering when worn. The woven bamboo basket and thread-bound ancient book among the props instantly pull people into that story atmosphere filled with the scent of herbal medicine from The Apothecary Diaries.

The shooting process was more interesting than expected. The bamboo forest is dense, and the withered leaves and bamboo roots on the ground were a bit trippy, but the light and shadow cast by natural light on the stalks were truly beautiful. We tried back and forth between the stone slabs and the bamboo forest, for example, lying on the green stone slabs propping up my chin to read a book, or crouching down to hold onto a bamboo stalk with a book in my arms, and shuttling through the bamboo forest. Every posture tried its best to catch that seemingly lazy but actually sharp and unique aura of Apothecary Maomao. The lying-down shot caught the perfect gaze focus, fitting nicely with her feeling of observing things in a quiet place.

Shuttling while carrying the bamboo basket was indeed a bit exhausting, but to restore that kind of daily life scene full of gathering herbs in the forest, these experiences are quite precious. In post-production, we preserved the softness and delicacy of natural light, without adding heavy filters or exaggerated special effects, striving to present a true sense of breathing room and tranquility. Through the scheduling of light and shadow, the color clash of green and red appears more harmonious under natural light. As a coser, every photoset is a deep realization of the character's soul. In the rustling sound of bamboo leaves, I felt as if I also perceived her composure and curious exploration of the world.

The restoration of outfit details achieved a great effect; the wig texture and the embellishment of hair accessories, combined with the overall light and natural makeup, give the character state more approachability. This set of photos is a record, and also a token of my love for the work The Apothecary Diaries. The prop details and scene selection constitute the sense of completeness for this outdoor shoot. Welcome everyone to check out this healing Maomao amidst the bamboo forest and stone steps.

Aside from the specific action designs, capturing the light during the shoot also consumed a lot of our time. The light inside the bamboo forest changes rapidly; sometimes it casts mottled light spots through the lush branches and leaves, and sometimes it is softened into diffuse reflections by the clouds. We intentionally chose to shoot during the afternoon when the light feel is relatively soft, making the entire frame possess a translucent quality without ruining that quiet atmosphere due to harsh shadows. The thickness and natural drape of the wig's front bangs also took quite a bit of time to tidy up, striving to maintain a fluffy and natural state before the lens. Combined with the grey top that originally looked a bit plain, the collision with the red skirt hem appropriately sets off the character's characteristic of having both liveliness and classical charm.

Every time the shutter is pressed, it feels like freezing a small story belonging to an Oriental fantasy world. The bamboo leaves brushing past the edges of the bamboo basket, the slightly yellowed book in hand—these micro-details jointly shape the completeness of this set of photos. Through these different cinematic languages, we attempted to explore how to convey a relaxed yet focused inner world of a girl who loves herbal medicine in a flat plane. Not only did we try our best to fit the original work's temperament visually, but we also spent a lot of heart on building up the global atmosphere. I hope this photoset, which carries the breath of daily life without losing an ethereal feel, can convey that unique healing ambiance through this bamboo forest photography session.
