A tremendous amount of care went into the preparation for this swimsuit Sangonomiya Kokomi shoot. To capture that airy, water-infused shimmering aesthetic, I compared fabrics from several vendors. Balancing drape and opacity was crucial, especially around the pleated ruffle hem of the skirt, which required refined tailoring to preserve its graceful flare even when submerged. The oversized chest bow and metallic accents were also chosen to enhance three-dimensional depth on camera.
For the wig, instead of settling for cheap pre-styled wigs, I smoothed, trimmed, and gradually hand-dyed the tips to achieve that soft, natural light-blue gradient. To harmonize with the cool pool tones, the makeup highlighted clear translucency, subtly deepening the blue eyeshadow gradients to echo the ocean theme.
During the actual shoot, outdoor sunlight and pool reflections acted as a double-edged sword. Blue hour at dusk yielded the most stunning frames, but we had to race against time to catch the rippling light across the water. Stepping into the water felt delightfully cool, but because the fabric grew noticeably heavier when soaked, I had to consciously control my movements to ensure every line looked fluid and effortless.
Perching atop that massive unicorn floatie heavily tested core stability—I had to keep my shoulders and back relaxed while maintaining focused eye contact. For the shot with the transparent swim ring, capturing that effortless, candid mood meant treading water for a while until finding the most comfortable balance point. Though physically tiring, seeing the captured water ripples, light, and shadow in the camera made every second worthwhile. I hope this summer-exclusive Kokomi set brings a cool breeze your way!
