This set of Genshin Impact Sandrone cosplay costume has an abundance of details, and a lot of thought went into the preparation from receiving the clothes to the official shoot. The main body of the costume is a black-and-white color-blocked dress, with the ruby metal pieces at the collar and chest being the finishing touches. To recreate that texture combining a mechanical feel with classical gorgeousness, the metal pieces were specially polished slightly before the shoot to ensure they present the proper luster under the lens. The black lace on the cuffs and the red ribbons on the back are also details that needed careful arrangement to avoid looking too cluttered.
The wig was chosen as light ash-blonde long curly hair, trimmed with straight bangs and face-framing sideburns on both sides. To increase the airy feel, a curling iron was not only used to curl the hair ends into a natural arc, but some hair strands were also thinned out. In terms of makeup, the focus was placed on the eyes. Blue contact lenses were a must, and cool-toned earth-tone eyeshadows were used for blending to deepen the eye contours, paired with an orange-pink lip gloss to keep the makeup look clean and dimensional.
The shooting location was chosen indoors, filled with vintage elements. The dark wooden piano, heavy bookshelves, oil paintings on the walls, and golden carved picture frames all wonderfully set off the atmosphere of a classical manor. The tabletop was covered with a red-and-gold floral tablecloth, displaying a delicate European three-tier dessert stand, vintage teacups, silver tableware, birdcages, and of course, the indispensable red roses. Lit white candles were the key to setting the mood, and the warm yellow candlelight made the entire scene feel cozy yet slightly mysterious.
During the shoot, lighting utilization was the highlight this time. To highlight the subject, a large amount of side-backlight and backlight was used. For instance, in the shots sitting at the table, light beams came from the back-side, illuminating the contours of the hair strands and shoulders, which, combined with the stardust special effects added in post-processing, maxed out the dreamy feel. In the set in front of the piano, natural light filtering through the window was also borrowed, combined with indoor warm lighting to form a cool-warm contrast.
In terms of interactive props, besides regular teacups and desserts, a blue butterfly model was specially prepared. Having it rest on the fingertips not only enriched the frame's colors but also added a touch of fantasy and liveliness to the character. During the shoot, I needed to constantly adjust my posture because the costume's material is relatively crisp; when sitting down, attention had to be paid to the spreading range of the skirt hem to ensure the picture looked both elegant and natural.
In post-processing, adjustments mainly focused on the overall color temperature and contrast of the frame, strengthening the vintage warm tones while preserving the skin's translucent feel. Refined brightening was also applied to the reflections of the metal accessories and jewelry to make the details stand out more. Coordinated with the lighting and scenes, this set of photos ultimately presented the image in my heart—one that is elegant and carries a hint of mystery.
