A great deal of thought went into this "Fox's Cry Beneath the Moon" look for Yu Linglong cosplay from NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, from preparation to the actual shoot. Yu Linglong's aura is extraordinarily unique, blending the bewitching enchantment of a fox spirit with a delicate, cool fragility. To recreate the texture of her "Spring Unbound" skin, I did extensive homework on the costume, hair, and makeup. I chose a wig with a pink-and-purple gradient, intentionally teasing the white fox ears on top for a fluffy, voluminous feel. Paired with red colored contacts, my demeanor instantly aligned with the Fox-eared girl character.
The costume details were richly intricate and quite challenging. This outfit is composed of abundant white sheer chiffon, lace, and semi-transparent fabrics, with tailoring across the waist and back that truly tests one's physique. The golden metal embellishments, tassels, and gemstone chains inlaid on the garment reflect varying sheens under studio lighting. To match the flowing elegance of the original artwork in this Traditional Chinese style cosplay, I added textured fur trim to the skirt hem and arms, and didn't overlook the ankles—since the lore specifies bare feet, I adorned them with golden anklets. Because the fabric is remarkably lightweight, we had to be vigilant against wardrobe malfunctions and continuously adjust the garment's layers to ensure an airy, graceful drape before the lens.
The shoot setting was arranged with an immersive Eastern fantasy atmosphere. Dark-tiled eaves, a circular moon gate, cascading white drapery, and tree branches dotted with white blossoms. The circular moon in the background was a crucial set piece; to achieve a translucent, luminous moonlight feel in the night scene, the gaffer spent a long time fine-tuning the lighting. The floor was layered with a plush white fur rug, which not only suited the winter and fox demon setting but also offered me a comfortable spot when posing. The nearby wooden lanterns and the tea set and grapes on the low table added a touch of everyday poetic warmth to the composition.
Regarding posing choreography, because of the high-slit skirt and bare feet, both seated and standing poses demanded exceptional caution. While seated on the fur rug, I tried cross-legged and kneeling postures, half-concealing my face with a feather fan to convey that alluring charm where endless romance lingers between her brows. The standing shot was the most demanding: lifting one leg and balancing solely on the tiptoe of the other, all while keeping the feather fan poised with elegance. It took numerous shutter clicks to freeze the perfect moment of the billowing skirt.
Though the entire process was quite strenuous, seeing the final photos made every bit of effort worthwhile. This was not merely a visual recreation of Yu Linglong's aesthetic, but also an exercise in body control and emotional expression for this Game cosplay. I hope this photo set allows everyone to feel Yu Linglong's presence—a fox fire sweeping across the endless night.
