[Yun Jin cosplay] Devastation and Redemption in the Night of Taishan

The concept of blending Yun Jin's styling into the night had been planned for quite some time. We chose Taishan as the location; with very dim night lighting, the entire background was practically a solid black canvas, testing the power of our fill lights and strobes. The photographer decided to use direct hard light to illuminate the subject, utilizing sharp light-dark contrast to accentuate the character's mythical presence and traditional opera aesthetic.

For costume preparation, we strove to match every detail from the original design. Beyond the purple color palette, the pink plush fur stole and the cross patterns on the chest had to be positioned straight. The blue and pink pom-poms on the headpiece required careful angle adjustments to keep them from being disheveled by the wind. The prop was that long red-and-white striped spear; to hold poses with enough dramatic tension, my wrists and shoulders required continuous force—especially in the first shot standing on one leg with the other slightly bent, keeping the spear grip steady. Maintaining this stance was genuinely exhausting, but to highlight the strapped boots, the flattering silhouette of the Purple stockings, and the natural drape of the skirt in stillness, persevering was completely worthwhile.

Turning to makeup, red contact lenses gave the gaze a cool, resolute edge under the flash, which, combined with winged eyeliner, instantly brought out Yun Jin's heroic martial aura. In several half-body close-ups, the photographer specifically had me adjust fingertip angles to showcase the tassels and pendants along the waist sash—these fine details are essential in defining the character's persona.

Under the lights, the red tassels and black diamond-patterned obi belt delivered stunning texture. The night scene offered minimal visual clutter, allowing focus on facial expressions and body posture. Thanks to the photographer for selecting the ideal camera angles in Taishan; our teamwork went seamlessly, and the final photoshoot achieved a crisp, chilling, yet magnificent visual presentation.
