Let's dive straight into the photoshoot of this Dark Gothic style Shenhe cosplay. Right from the early planning stages, I wanted to lean this Genshin Impact character into a darker aesthetic. After several fitting trials, we finally settled on this black tulle lace dress coordinated with Black fishnet stockings cosplay and red-bottom high heels.

The greatest challenge of this outfit lay in the layering of textures. The main body is crafted from light, breathable black mesh and lace, allowing skin tones to subtly peek through before the lens, while the chest area incorporates substantial sequins and black leather to add visual weight. The ruby jewel and red bow at the collar played a pivotal accent role, bridging the contrast between the cool silver-white hair and deep black. The fishnet stockings served as the soul of this ensemble; delicate lace motifs paired with the contrasting colors of the red-and-black heels visually elongated the legs while elevating the character's cool, aloof presence to the maximum.

Setting up the shoot's background also took considerable effort. The black reflective film spread across the floor was deliberately prepared to cast reflections beneath my feet. Beside it, an inverted gilded frame, red roses, a crucifix in the background, along with dried flowers and a skull, all worked to cultivate a moody, fractured dark atmosphere. The flickering flames of crystal candelabras served as background lighting, paired with thick iron chains draped in the rear, intensifying the mood of the entire set. The photographer utilized classic low-key lighting—bright subject, darkened background—where floor reflections gracefully extended the body's lines.

The poses during the shoot were primarily tailored to complement this Black fishnet stockings cosplay. The first photo features lying on my side on the floor with hand raised, utilizing the scattered spread of the skirt hem; the second holds up a picture frame to leverage the frame's lines for composition, creating a 'figure in a painting' aesthetic; the third pose, sitting cross-legged on the floor, faces the camera as the primary focal perspective, most directly showcasing the details of the fishnets, the texture of the red-soled shoes, and the curves of the legs. The composition of each shot kept the subject centered rather than near edges, facilitating post-crop flexibility.

Regarding Shenhe as a character, my personal interpretation is that she possesses an aloof, detached temperament. This disposition actually holds immense synergy with heavy, deep black. Enveloping her cool, striking silver-white hair in expansive black does not dampen the character's dynamic grace; rather, it elevates a higher tier of glamorous cold beauty in this Silver hair cosplay.

In post-processing, heavy skin-smoothing was avoided, preserving the raw texture and skin tones while deepening the shadows more purely and lifting highlights (such as skin tone, red roses, and candlelight) to create a striking contrast between light and dark. Overall, this was an exceptionally fun dark-themed costume experiment.

When selecting wardrobe pieces, this kind of sheer black lace dress is quite demanding on body proportions. To ensure the fishnets did not look cheap under lighting reflections, I chose a denser pair with dimensional raised patterns, which, paired with the structured red-bottom heels, made the arch and instep lines look much cleaner. While the shoot was quite demanding, mastering character makeup, fabric textures, and atmospheric lighting made it a thoroughly solid professional practice.
