This blue and black outfit techwear styling is a look I've adored recently. For this Studio photography session, photographer 离 and I coordinated lighting and staging beforehand, ultimately deciding on a seamless pure white backdrop to accentuate garment details and color contrasts. The tonal aesthetic of this series was set between dynamism and sharpness—free from background distractions, relying purely on body language and garment tailoring to carry each composition.
Let's talk about the wig and headpiece first: a silver-white base with soft blue highlights, styled into a high ponytail that lends an exceptionally capable and crisp aura. The cat-ear headband featuring a honeycomb texture atop the head serves as an ingenious visual focal point; paired with goggles boasting blue-purple gradient reflective lenses, simply pushing them up instantly summons a combat-ready tension. For makeup, bright blue cosmetic contact lenses echoed the overarching color scheme, while a black-and-white geometric choker around the neck dialed up the cyberpunk vibe.
The intricate craftsmanship of the costume exceeded my expectations. The outer blue-and-black spliced cropped jacket utilized a windbreaker-like fabric with a subtle sheen; its white zippers, linear trims, and the circular badge on the lapel were all exquisitely constructed. Beneath it was a white form-fitting cropped base top; for optimal shooting results, I made sure my midriff stayed dry and clean before the shoot. On the lower half, black shorts paired with an asymmetrical blue-and-black spliced skirt hem created fluid dimension in motion, while the white metal-buckle belt cinched the waist and elongated overall body proportions.
To boost visual impact, I chose black Fishnet stockings for the legs, paired with asymmetrical blue leg wraps and chunky high-top combat sneakers. Although the boots look heavy, they were surprisingly comfortable on-foot; the laces and Velcro straps provided solid stability during lunges and crouching stances. Pulling on the fingerless gloves and wrapping the black straps securely around my arms, I felt as though I could dive straight into battle at any second.
Posing choreography throughout the session also involved plenty of thought. The first sequence was a single-knee crouch, resting one hand against the goggles while the other extended downward; the photographer caught it from a slight high angle, elongating the lines of the cropped jacket and Fishnet stockings. The second sequence transitioned into a cross-legged sitting posture on the floor, flashing a subtle peace sign with one hand to ease the tension into a more relaxed mood. The punch-throwing shot required intense core engagement to freeze the dynamic burst against the pure white backdrop, testing my control over balance. Finally, using a stool as a prop, crossing my legs while touching my goggles shifted the visual weight firmly onto the stockings and high-top boots, generating tremendous compositional tension.
Shooting this set was truly exhausting yet exhilarating. The heavy, complex costume, tight-fitting constriction, and numerous wide movements demanding core power drained stamina quickly, but seeing those crisp, punchy lighting textures on the camera monitor made everything feel completely worthwhile. Post-production color grading mainly preserved the original cool palette of the garments, adding a subtle touch of grain for a filmic finish. No overwrought sentimentality throughout the process—just dedicated focus on nailing every single detail.
