[Kuromi Serika Cosplay] Blue Archive: Gothic Black Cat Dress Photoshoot

I prepared this Gothic dress cosplay version of Kuromi Serika ahead of the Guangzhou BAonly convention. From conceptualizing the look to finishing the shoot, the entire preparation process was highly detailed. The most eye-catching part of the look is definitely the bright pink floating halo prop on my head, which, when paired with the black-and-white cat ears, perfectly aligns with Kuromi Serika's classic character elements. For the hair, I went with long straight black hair styled into prominent twin-tails, which adds a distinct anime vibe and creates a lovely gap moe when combined with this elegant gown.

Regarding the outfit, this Serika dress features a large amount of black. The upper half is a strapless design that beautifully highlights the shoulder and neck lines, leaving a clean visual breathing space. The chest and collar are decorated with black fabric roses that echo the layered black mesh ruffle skirt below. The skirt has multiple tiers, and whenever I moved or struck a pose—especially when lifting my leg—the black tulle flared out naturally, creating rich textures. I also paired the look with a black lace choker accented by a single pendant diamond, pulling the dark gothic vibe together perfectly.

For the lower half, I wore matte black tights. This fabric catches the natural outdoor light with a very soft reflection, which complements the texture of the black roses on the dress. For shoes, I specifically chose a pair of black-and-red pointed-toe heels; the bright red soles peek through subtly whenever I lift my feet, which shows the extra effort we put into the details. Since we shot this outside the Guangzhou BAonly venue, the massive modern glass curtain walls provided a wonderfully cool, urban backdrop.

The entire shoot was made possible with the help of photographer Kansen-Bunjin. The afternoon sun cast light from the side of the building, creating a clear line of light and shadow on the glass wall that gave my silhouette a highly dimensional outline. To match the elegant and slightly mysterious vibe of this gown, I experimented with several dynamic poses: lifting the skirt while standing, making a hand-heart while balancing on one leg, and leaning sideways against the glass railings. In one of my favorite shots, I sat directly on the ground holding scattered black rose props under the reflection of the sunset on the glass walls—the atmosphere was absolutely unmatched.

Usually, Kuromi Serika is cosplayed in her sporty style or daily school uniform, but this dress version opens up a completely different side of her. Wearing this light gothic style at the convention naturally made me adjust my posture and expressions, shifting from her active, energetic traits to a relatively calm, cool vibe. During the shoot, I could better control her expressions, keeping things poised without over-exaggerating. The costume and props fit together perfectly, and the final colors and lighting matched my expectations. From changing into the outfit to finishing makeup and completing the shoot, the entire process was incredibly smooth, making it a highly fulfilling convention journey.
