This time, I cosplayed Reisa Uzawa from Blue Archive. Just as written in the post, I'm here to accept everyone's challenge.
Quite a lot of effort was put into handling the styling before the shoot. The wig was specifically chosen with a light blue and lavender gradient effect, and the fluffiness of the hair strands and the length of the bangs were repeatedly adjusted to fit the character setting. The pink cat-ear headband paired with purple star-shaped hairpins—such small accessories can instantly give the character a soul. The combination of the sailor suit layered with a vest and jacket, plus the cropped waist design, not only retains the academic feel of a school uniform but also accommodates the unique liveliness and tension of an Anime girl character.
Initially, I prepared a pleated skirt with white under-shorts and did not wear stockings; this clean layered style better reflects the character's daily life and approachable vibe. Although the costume had many layers and felt slightly stuffy, I was quite relieved to see the final edits.
The overall style leans toward a candid capture or a slightly interactive vibe. The first picture with the kneeling and reaching-out pose actually aims to mimic that 'bring it on' feeling from the storyline. The salute in the second picture has a touch of cuteness, the third switches to a playful and relaxed chatting atmosphere, and the last one closes with a relatively cool and crisp close-up of me holding a sign that says 'Challenge'.
The shooting location was in the outdoor area of the convention, where the floor tiles were clean and reflective, and the light was soft. Big thanks to the photographer Rumu for the patient guidance, helping me nail the camera positions and light angles, giving the entire set a translucent and refreshing quality. Actually, when shooting this kind of uniform style in cosplay photography, the movements shouldn't be too stiff; you need to relax as much as possible to restore the character's trait of wanting to show off but having a bit of a tsundere attitude.
The makeup was also adjusted several times. The eyeshadow leans toward purple-pink tones, which, paired with the light-colored contacts, allows the gaze to better convey the character's emotional fluctuations. I initially thought this light-colored wig would make me look washed out, but actually, with a clean and translucent base makeup combined with highlights and contouring, it made me look quite ethereal and agile.
Releasing this set of photos is also a small summary of my recent cosplay practices. From costume preparation to selecting accessory details, designing the on-site poses, and the final presentation, every step required dedicated effort. Although it's not a perfect textbook recreation, I personally really love this Reisa Uzawa cosplay look, as it carries a distinct character recognition.
On the day of the shoot, I actually ran into many fellow hobbyists, each doing their own characters. The joy of materializing a 2D character in the real world is very pure and direct. In fact, the most interesting part of playing cosplay is leaving daily life behind and briefly becoming someone else in front of the lens. When we put on this outfit, wear the wig, our gaze and posture naturally change.
Next, I will continue to challenge different looks and styles. Whether it's a daily-life-oriented combat girl or a character with a complex setting, as long as there is an understanding and love for the original work, the character can come alive the moment the camera freezes the frame. The world of Blue Archive is amazing, and the characters all have their own unique traits. I hope this shoot allows everyone to see a refreshing and energetic image of Reisa. I also want to thank every stranger who supported and watched at the shoot; your presence added a bit of on-site realism to this shoot.
In the end, I chose four photos from different angles and movements to display my form from various perspectives, hoping the visual experience won't be too monotonous. The photos taken this time all have a very lighthearted daily feel, which fits well with the vibe the character gives in the game. Being able to present the character in such a realistic and interactive way can be considered a fulfilled wish for myself. If there's an opportunity next time, perhaps I'll try the performance of this costume in different scenes and lighting.
