[Sparkle Cosplay] Circus Magic Style Honkai: Star Rail Girl Cosplay Photoshoot

The theme of this shoot revolves around circus and magic elements, with the entire set built piece by piece from scratch. Red and black curtains combined with the black-and-white checkerboard floor immediately created a stage-like atmosphere. To match this scene, I specifically chose a red-and-white color-blocked costume; the diamond grid patterns on the chest and skirt hem perfectly echoed playing card designs, while a small plush rabbit and bells hung from the waist, tinkling gently with movement. The headpiece featured a black-and-white rabbit ear design, which fit the overarching style seamlessly while adding a playful touch.

As for props, the cane topped with a red boxing glove was custom-made; holding it while posing added a great deal of expressive energy. In addition, balloons, gift boxes, and playing cards were scattered around, complementing the bunting in the background for a visually rich scene. I tried several distinct poses this time: the first lying on the floor with a raised leg felt lazy and casual; the second sitting on a chair showcased the outfit's layers more effectively; the third standing on one leg was my favorite—lively while elongating leg lines, paired with the hula hoop and plush rabbit props behind me to create strong dynamic energy; the fourth sitting on the floor was relatively quiet, perfect for displaying intricate details.

Lighting required a lot of thought during the shoot; beyond the main key light, red and purple ambient lights were added to strike the curtains and checkerboard floor, making colors more vivid and dramatically charged. Extensive planning went into pre-production—such as when to bring the prop rabbit into frame, when to reveal leg lines, and controlling camera angles to avoid cutting off the subject near the frame edges. Post-processing avoided overly dramatic edits, focusing primarily on preserving the on-site light and shadow atmosphere.

Wearing this costume was actually quite intricate, with multiple layers and relatively stiff fabrics—especially around the skirt, which required careful handling when sitting or squatting to manage pleats. However, once put on, I instantly stepped into that magic performer persona, naturally making bolder, more expressive gestures. My biggest takeaway after finishing was that a richer set yields far more joy during the shoot; although set building and clean-up were exhausting, seeing the final photos made it completely fulfilling.
