Putting on this iconic black-and-white dress and the huge ruffled hat, and fastening the mini leather pouch at my waist, I instantly entered Marisa Kirisame's state. This shoot specifically used a pure black background to create the strongest visual contrast with the layered white lace and golden curly hair. The prop broom and small mushroom lamp were also handled individually in detail to restore that casual yet slightly mysterious atmosphere from the game as much as possible. The costume designs in Touhou Project always have a unique balance between exaggeration and practicality; especially the size of this hat requires some thought to secure properly, but I am very satisfied with the final fluffy presentation.
During the shoot, I tried several airborne poses to simulate the dynamics of flying. To achieve a natural floating effect for the skirt hem and hair strands, we used a fan on-site several times before catching the most natural moment. As an amateur who handles both photography and post-processing myself for this Marisa cosplay and Roleplay, I emphasized facial contours and clothing layers in the lighting setup this time, leaving enough information in the shadow details, with the overall color tone leaning toward clean and bright. Although the prop broom looks lightweight, my wrists actually got quite sore after holding it for a long time, but the final photos made this trouble completely worthwhile. I hope this interpretation of the classic character can be conveyed through the images. In the world of Touhou Project, even an ordinary magician has to work hard to collect mushrooms for this piece of Anime-style photography.
