This time, I collaborated with my photography partner on this Tohsaka Rin cosplay photoshoot, spending about two weeks on overall prep. I mainly wanted to challenge myself with long curly twintails—a style I hadn't attempted in a long time—while reconstructing the outfit around the futuristic sci-fi aesthetic of Honkai: Star Rail. I was the model, while my longtime photography partner handled the shoot and post-production using a Sony A7R6 paired with a Sony FE 50-150mm F2 GM lens. This lens setup performed exceptionally well in the indoor bar setting; the ample light gathering and creamy bokeh from the wide aperture made the high-contrast red-and-black outfit pop dramatically against the warm amber background.

First, let's break down the outfit's details. The glossy red leather jacket is the centerpiece of the entire look, featuring a high-shine finish that reflected light smoothly and evenly under the studio bar counter lighting. Black matte patent leather paneling lines and golden metallic buckle accents added rich visual dimension before the camera. Layered underneath was a black mock-neck bodysuit accented with metallic buckle rings at the collar. The waist construction is quite intricate: a layered overlap of red, black, and gold belts, metal chains, and geometric pendants visually cinched the waist tight. The bottom half is a crisp white pleated miniskirt with clean tailoring, bordered on the sides and back with long black ribbons edged in gold that drape naturally when moving or lifting legs. On my legs were Black stockings, paired with white chunky platform ankle boots whose silver buckles and substantial black soles provided tactile visual weight. For accessories, oversized gold hoop earrings and black ribbon bow hair clips on either side of my head framed my face nicely in side-profile shots, delivering rich visual layers across the ensemble.

Because the set was a simulated bar and lounge environment, the background featured a wooden bar counter, multi-tiered wine racks, bottles, stemware, and a golden gramophone to the right. The warm ambient lighting combined with our additional key light brought the scene's moody ambiance to its peak. For props, we prepared a longsword featuring a semi-translucent blade with glowing light effects, as well as a silver necklace adorned with a red gemstone pendant. Both props played significant roles throughout the shoot.

Regarding posing direction, I explored poses from various angles. Standing before the bar while raising the sword overhead fully showcased the shoulder tailoring and the black cross motifs on the sleeves. Sitting in a leather armchair with one leg raised was a pose packed with dynamic tension; not only did this sharpen the contrast between the white miniskirt and Black stockings, but the angled knee composition also visually elongated leg lines, making my legs look even more slender when paired with white boots. Other poses included bringing the red gemstone pendant to my lips or holding up the necklace with one hand, leveraging reflections from the chain and gem to enrich detail. I also tried raising the sword horizontally forward with one hand while turning my torso slightly sideways—an angle that tested our lighting layout, though the 50-150mm focal length compressed the space beautifully while keeping facial features and costume textures razor-sharp.

The elements requiring the most adjustment were seated postures and leg angles. Wearing Black stockings and ankle boots while perched on a bar stool meant constantly minding the direction of the skirt hem and the drape of the ribbons to prevent them from obscuring the waist hardware. The leg-lifting movement was shot repeatedly across several takes to ensure it looked natural without stiffness while keeping the costume smooth, which required my leg muscles to stay constantly engaged. For eye expression, slightly lowering my chin while elevating my gaze projected an imposing yet effortless composure on camera. A few candid snapshots caught me adjusting my hair or smiling at the lens, creating a delightfully relaxed contrast.

Overall, I am thoroughly thrilled with this photoshoot. From capturing the costume textures and building the set's ambiance to coordinating lighting and physical movement, everything hit our intended vision. The red, black, and gold palette paired with Black stockings and white boots delivers an industrial-chic cool while preserving the character's signature charm. It was a wonderful Tohsaka Rin cosplay journey within Anime-style photography.
