Previously, during the shooting experience backstage at CP29 Comicup, when I first arrived at the exhibition hall on the first day and saw this corner piled with clutter, my heart was actually a bit apprehensive. Because right beside it were supplies from various booths, scrapped metal ladders, as well as some cardboard boxes and scaffolding, completely different from a clean exhibition hall in one's impression. But the photographer @Jimumu, who wanted to shoot Revue Starlight, was exceptionally excited upon seeing this environment, saying that this kind of industrial, wasteland style actually produces better results than a clean studio shoot.

I started changing into this black and purple outfit. Although I don't know the exact name of the character, the tailoring of this outfit truly hit the spot for me. The mandarin collar looks very energetic, and the cuffs feature a purple pleated patchwork design, making it appear both layered and providing space for movement. The leather belt at the waist paired with dark metallic buckles serves as a highly robust element, and combined further with the short skirt patchwork black tights and chunky-heeled black ankle boots for the lower body, the overall look is exceptionally layered while displaying the leg lines just right.

During the shooting process, Jimumu was excellent at finding angles. A few photos were shot through the rusty metal railings in the foreground, utilizing foreground occlusion to instantly focus the viewer's gaze onto the face, which, cooperating with that "shh" gesture, turned the atmospheric photo vibe up to the max. Another set was shot leaning against the ladders and cardboard boxes. I originally thought the ladders would look messy, but borrowing the natural light slanting in during the afternoon, the light hit half of the face and the texture of the clothing, while the other half hid in the shadows, creating a magnificent contrast.

Standing, sitting, and even climbing on top of the ladder, we tried out many different camera positions. For the shot climbing to the high spot, the cardboard boxes and handcarts below instead looked like a miniature stage, and the blue and purple ribbons on the costume fluttered in the breeze, carrying great visual tension. Those black platform boots standing on the scaffolding provided a highly secure state, cooperating with that backward glance to create an aura of scouting enemy positions.

In fact, doing cosplay often encounters various interferences at a convention, such as other passersby or booth owners moving things right next to you, but it is precisely because of this that it feels more authentic. This set of photos didn't deliberately avoid these clutters, but instead melted the junk piles, cardboard boxes, and ladders all into props, preserving the most authentic backstage corner of the convention. Meanwhile, the character's light pink hair paired with the kemonomimi hair accessories appeared exceptionally eye-catching in the entire messy environment dominated by black, white, and gray, with the light-dark color contrast reinforcing the visual focus of the frame.

The final output came out as a genuine surprise. This kind of contrasting feel both recreated the robust yet slightly mysterious elements of the work itself and transcended conventional studio shoots. I truly must praise Jimumu's candid captures and compositions; knowing how to utilize the environment prevents the photos from looking rigid. This convention photoshoot is finally completed successfully. The entire shooting process was both relaxed and professional, providing an exceptionally great experience, and I will continue to challenge this way of producing photos by utilizing non-conventional scenes at the next convention.
