This photo set features an Arknights cosplay of Laqeramaline. To recreate the character's imposing pressure and Ice Queen style without anger, a lot of effort was indeed poured into the early preparation.
The silver-white wig underwent multi-layered gradient processing, transitioning from light gray at the roots to ice blue at the ends. Combined with the black feather-textured headwear on both sides and pointed elf ears, the contour of the overall head styling is incredibly sharp. The makeup primarily enhanced the expressiveness of the red eye color, with the eyeliner elongated and slightly winged upward to accentuate the character's coldness, while the base makeup was given a matte finish to prevent looking greasy under the cool-toned lighting, achieving a stunning elf ear makeup and styling.
The most meticulous part of the costume was the golden geometric patchwork motif on the chest; it serves not just as decoration but as an anchor for the visual center. The fabric of the entire coat utilized a light-reflective black material, with the tailoring optimized for drape so that natural shadow layers can form even in a sitting pose. The red ribbon cascading from the left shoulder is a finishing touch; to make it float naturally during the movements as in her lore, a small fan was arranged to blow on it during the shoot. The translucent texture arm covers and the heavily layered black-and-red gradient skirt also added more weight to the overall aura.
The shooting scene was selected in an indoor space with classical Baroque elements, where the core prop was a high-backed black Gothic throne. The marble pillars in the scene and the cool-toned geometric tiles on the floor perfectly matched the character's black and gold outfit. During the shoot, we not only used a main light source to cast structural light on the character's face but also arranged some cyan-blue cool lights in the environment. This interweaving of warm and cool lighting allows the black clothes to present deep and profound layers.
For the pose, I attempted a frontal forward-leaning composition this time, extending my right hand directly toward the camera with fingers slightly open. This movement preserved the surrounding space during post-processing cropping, letting the visual focus extend along the arm to the character's cold face, giving people a sense of immersion as if being locked on or enveloped by her aura. To maintain this forward-leaning, arm-suspended posture, the actual shoot was quite a test of core strength—I was almost holding my breath to freeze-frame the motion.
During post-processing retouching, there was no excessive skin smoothing, preserving some skin texture while focusing on unifying the cyan-blue tones of the image. This darker, cool-toned palette can better present the character's mysterious aura and dangerous beauty. Shooting this type of cold, elegant character usually requires completely restraining facial expressions and immersing oneself into the character's mindset—the exact opposite of my usual lively state—but the effect is often highly impactful.
Overall, whether in the precision of the styling or the creation of the scene's atmosphere, the final outcome achieved the expected emotional effect. The meticulously crafted styling combined with the restrained and calm demeanor beautifully conveys the character's inherent charm.
