[Chocola cosplay] NEKOPARA Idol Stage Outfit Photoshoot Share with Vanilla

Today, I'm bringing you our cosplay photoshoot featuring the idol stage outfits of Chocola and Vanilla from NEKOPARA. Cosplaying as Vanilla, this stage outfit has so many delightful design nuances to explore. The blue-and-white plaid fabric is layered over a multi-tiered white skirt, accented by criss-cross waist ties and a midriff-baring cut that preserves the cuteness of a catgirl while adding the airy, dynamic flair of an idol performance costume. To complement this attire, I wore a sleek, pure white long straight wig trimmed with blunt bangs, paired with vibrant blue contact lenses. To make my gaze pop before the camera, I added subtle highlighting along the aegyo sal. The blue collar around my neck and the blue ribbon bow atop my head were key highlights, while the white cat ears and fluffy trailing tail on my back elevated the completeness of the entire silhouette.

My partner Chocola (@忧郁的烤鱼) wore the matching pink-toned stage attire. Her reddish-brown twintails and black cat ears formed a lovely pink-and-blue visual contrast with my look. We spent considerable time dialing in our posing chemistry during the shoot. A duo photoshoot truly tests synchronization: for instance, sitting together in Photo 1 with our legs crossed over one another required both of us to maintain steady balance while managing our skirt folds and facial expressions. In Photo 4, where I lean against her while she holds the microphone prop, capturing that genuine sense of intimacy required several takes to nail natural eye contact and relaxed posture. In Photo 5, I assumed a half-squat while holding the mic—a pose that demands solid core engagement, especially in high heels and white stockings, where straightening the calf lines is crucial for a clean aesthetic. In Photo 8, during our standing interaction, I reached out playfully to pinch her cat ear—that spontaneous, teasing energy arose completely organically between takes.

The studio set was arranged with immense care. The backdrop featured a solid-tone curtain fading softly between pink and purple, hung with colorful bunting banners, paper floral garlands, and cutouts of musical notes and stars. The floor was cushioned with fluffy white cotton to emulate drifting clouds, scattered with pastel pink, blue, and purple balloons. The photographer (the OP) used soft studio lighting that avoided harsh shadows, allowing the delicate textures of the white stockings and fair skin to be showcased flawlessly. Posing across the cotton while wearing white stockings was surprisingly slippery, and we had to be mindful not to introduce noticeable wrinkles into the stage costumes.

Completing this collaborative TFP shoot in Haikou was an absolute breeze thanks to seamless communication throughout. The idol stage outfit concept is wonderfully playful—it doesn't carry the solemn tension of battle armor, nor is it as casual as everyday streetwear; it calls for a touch of stage-ready charisma and cheeky charm. From hand gestures to pointed toes, every motion was tailored to showcase the kinetic beauty of the stage outfit. This photo set captures our shared stage moments brought to life before the lens.
