While this Arknights Saileach outfit looks like a crisp uniform at first glance, wearing it reveals an abundance of intricate details. Today I shot this photo set and wanted to share some thoughts on costume fitting and the photoshoot process. Because the character design features a massive banner prop, it was truly a test of physical stamina. The flagpole is long and heavy; holding it straight while aligning my gaze and standing posture demanded considerable arm and core strength. In terms of costume, the black leather mini-skirt and the black cape in back required multiple adjustments to the belt and strap tension to properly accentuate the waistline. The blue bowtie and cross emblem on the chest had to be centered carefully to keep from shifting. To highlight the character's aura, I wore a golden braided wig, which was quite heavy itself—especially the braids on both sides swinging easily, affecting the stability of the overall look. The lace trim on the beret is soft and creases easily if not careful, needing constant tidying between shots. The over-the-knee White stockings on the legs paired with black leg garters caught the light beautifully, but wearing them with thick platform boots made my ankles ache after prolonged standing.
We chose an indoor studio shoot to best showcase the fabric textures and overall color palette. The combination of blue, white, black, and gold creates rich visual layers. I tested various angles to maintain the aesthetics of the original 2D design—such as raising a hand to grip the flagpole and turning slightly sideways to reveal the diamond-patterned trim at the cape hem. As a cosplayer dedicated to character accuracy, I invested plenty of thought into prop preparation, including the banner's printed patterns and the drape of the tassels to match the original work as closely as possible. We encountered minor challenges along the way, such as adjusting the absolute territory gap between the White stockings and the black skirt, and making the leather belt sit flush. After continuous fine-tuning, we finally achieved a satisfying result. Compared to the valiant and composed demeanor of the original design, I feel these photos captured the exact expression I wanted. Even with holding a heavy banner throughout the shoot, being able to bring this character to life brought immense joy.
