This Ibuki Suika shoot took place in a clean, luminous white cyclorama studio. For props, the massive horns had to be securely anchored to the wig base to prevent wobbling. The chains and hanging geometric symbols (blue cube, golden sphere, red tetrahedron) were crafted with care beforehand, providing great texture while adding considerable physical weight. Several poses involved jumping or standing on one foot; keeping the chains swaying naturally while maintaining relaxed expressions tested balance and core control. The outfit is richly layered—especially the white ruffled petticoat stacked beneath the purple patterned skirt—requiring careful smoothing when seated to avoid bunching. Pairing platform shoes with white stockings elongated leg lines, which, contrasted with the oversized horns, visually created that 'miniature powerhouse' presence. For expressions, I prepared a slightly cool, detached demeanor to honor the character lore.
Post-processing was handled by a talented retoucher, while I fine-tuned skin textures and color tones, preserving high-key brightness on the white backdrop to make the red ribbons and golden accents pop cleanly. Managing multi-tiered skirts and heavy chains proved to be a real physical workout, but positive synergy across the team made it thoroughly enjoyable. Once we calibrated how the chains swung without tangling the skirt, their clean geometric silhouettes emerged effortlessly. Standing on one foot in heavy platforms required steady balance, while holding gazes until the shutter fired demanded patience. The purple patterned fabric had subtle jacquard textures that required precise lighting angles to shine, and fluffing the white tulle underskirt ensured a natural umbrella drape when seated. The glossy purple gourd prop, red bows, and golden chain buckles enriched the palette. Pointing my toes during leg-lift poses stretched the silhouette for flattering proportions, while gentle retouching preserved skin texture and catchlights for a cohesive, refined Touhou Project portfolio.
