Capturing these Convention photos themed 'Bleeding Crimson Realm, Moon Madness Prison' at the China International Comics Festival (CICF) was quite an experience. The shoot took place outdoors before a glass curtain wall; due to intense glass reflections and rapidly shifting afternoon lighting, we had to rush against time to wrap up before sunset.
Let's discuss the outfit details. The skirt features numerous layers, combining red-and-white ruffled hems with sheer tulle layers that feel very substantial when worn. The chest lace-up cords and pearl necklace faithfully recreate the design, which—paired with the red-and-black devil wings on my back and the red spear prop in hand—made the overall visual presence feel richly filled. That red spear was actually quite heavy with its center of gravity leaning forward, leaving my wrist terribly sore when holding it with one hand; to get great shots, I often had to crouch or prop my elbow to steady it.
For makeup, red colored contacts paired with a light blue short wig and softly blended red eyeshadow yielded an authentic vampire ambiance. This time, I specifically styled white over-the-knee White stockings with crisscross strap bindings wrapped around them, completed by red Mary Jane high heels. To highlight these details, the photographer guided me to use plenty of seated or leg-elongating poses, such as sitting on a suitcase with legs extended, which effectively flattered the leg lines and stocking texture, rendering longer visual proportions.
Using a suitcase as a seat to adjust my center of gravity worked out wonderfully. The photographer was very collaborative, and we experimented with diverse stances—standing while wielding the spear, crouching to arrange the skirt ruffles, and sitting while interacting with props. Because the sunlight was crisp, the curtain wall reflected the blue sky and white clouds outside, turning into a surprisingly natural backdrop. After several posing sequences, this styling felt completely true to the character's disposition.
While cosplaying is physically demanding—especially wearing a heavy dress while holding up a weapon—seeing such a cohesive finished set made me proud of this performance. Key traits of this character, such as regal majesty and exquisite elegance, were faithfully expressed through garment textures and makeup, meeting all my expectations.
