[Azu-nyan cosplay] K-ON! cat ears twintails stage selfie record

This shoot was chosen in an indoor venue equipped with instruments and a stage, which fits the theme background of a school band like K-ON! very well. I cosplayed Azu-nyan. To recreate the character's traits, I specially prepared a black straight-bangs long hair and twintails styling, topped with a pair of black cat ears. For the costume, a classic black-and-white color-matched maid outfit cosplay was chosen; the design details of the white ruffled headband, black bow tie, and puff sleeves are all exquisitely crafted, and the white pleated apron on the chest also increases the overall layering. The material of this outfit presents a great gloss under the lights; although it's a simple black-and-white color scheme, it doesn't look monotonous in the frame.
In terms of makeup, to highlight the character's cat-like attributes, I darkened the contour of the eye makeup and wore light brown contact lenses to make the gaze look more vivid. A lot of thought also went into trimming the wig; the neat bangs and the wispy sideburns on both sides needed to fit the face shape, making the visual effect of the face more harmonious. The base makeup was kept clean and translucent, and the lipstick chose a relatively natural hue, preventing the overall makeup from looking too heavy, which fits the character's girlish vibe better.
During the shoot, I tried handheld self-photography; the electric guitar, drum set, and speakers in the background happened to create a band rehearsal atmosphere. The first picture made a V-sign gesture, and the second picture made a cat-paw action, which, matched with a playful smile, made the overall atmosphere quite relaxed and lively. Since the selfie angle is relatively hard to control, I repeatedly adjusted how I held the phone, trying to make the facial lighting even while bringing the red curtain and instruments in the background into the frame to increase composition richness. The lighting on the stage is relatively complex; to avoid excessive facial shadows, I tried a few times before finding a relatively soft lighting angle.
Actually, besides costumes and props, the most important thing in shooting cosplay is getting into the character's state. Although I didn't bring professional photography equipment this time and just used a phone for stage selfies, by finding the right light and adjusting angles, I could still present a decent effect. The red curtain of the stage also added great color contrast to the frame, and the tones of the wooden floor looked quite warm. To better fit the character, I also practiced expression management a bit, trying my best to show Azu-nyan's slightly tsundere yet playful feeling.
The instruments in the venue were fully equipped, allowing various poses just by picking them up casually. The ruffles and puff sleeves of the maid outfit cosplay had great layering in front of the lens, matching with the black long straight hair and cat ears twintails, making the overall visual relatively coordinated. The advantage of self-photography is that you can see your expression and state at any time and make timely adjustments. I usually like researching various makeup styles and stylings, exploring shooting effects under different lighting. The characters in K-ON! all have strong personal traits, and Azu-nyan's cat-like setting combined with instrument elements can play out many different variations. For people who like cosplay, being able to bring favorite characters into reality with their own hands is a very fulfilling thing. I hope this styling recreation lets everyone feel Azu-nyan's cuteness. In future creations, I will continue to research makeup and photography skills, presenting more good works.
