Shooting this Touhou Project Sakuya Izayoi cosplay required far more intricate preparation than anticipated. The costume tailoring went through multiple rounds of scrutiny and sampling. In particular, for the dark blue jacquard vest, I specifically chose fabric with subtle jacquard patterns rather than plain weave to capture the ornate feel of the original design. The black leather buckles and silver chain clasp on the front of the vest added extra refinement to the details. For the white shirt at the collar, I selected a slightly structured cotton fabric with delicate lace trim, instantly bringing out the dimensional layering of the Maid outfit cosplay look. Green bows adorned several spots to balance the cool mood of the blue-and-white theme, while the gemstones embedded in their centers gave each bow greater visual weight.
Props have always been an aspect I value deeply. The ornate silver dagger in my hand features a hilt wrapped in dark blue sequins, paired with intricate silver filigree and gems; holding it carries tangible weight while its reflections enhance the authenticity on camera. The silver pocket watch and long chain in my other hand were props I adored during the shoot—holding it up or letting it drape between my fingers created a wonderful visual leading line.
The coordination between makeup and the wig was also carefully thought out for this Silver hair cosplay. The layering of this silver-grey short wig was crucial: the volume at the crown determined the head-to-body proportion, while the side braids framed the face nicely. For makeup, I chose eyeshadow with a subtle reddish blend paired with blue-grey contact lenses, hoping to create an eye makeup effect balanced between composure and mystery. This makeup looked exceptionally textured under the studio's softbox lighting, serving as my personal interpretation of the character.
In terms of poses, I performed classic standing postures, such as an upward defensive stance wielding the dagger and holding the pocket watch to project control over time. I especially love the seated pose on the white cylindrical pedestal, as it beautifully displays the spread hem of the skirt, and the White stockings on the thighs added great visual appeal to the frame. The grey studio backdrop was clean and distraction-free, fully highlighting the costume's layered depth and color coordination. Throughout the shoot, pairing the silver daggers with the pocket watch perfectly recreated that elegant yet effortless aura. As a maid, capturing this temperament required deliberately adjusting habitual postures to convey the character's calm composure. The White stockings made the look not only more faithful to the character but also wonderfully suited for portrait photography, setting the overall atmosphere impeccably.
