[2B Cosplay] NieR:Automata: Combat Stance in the Ruins

Putting on this iconic black dress and taking up the katana that accompanied me through battle, this time the shooting location for this 2B cosplay was chosen in a real wasteland of steel. This scene perfectly fits the character's background setting; the broken reinforced concrete and scattered mechanical wreckage instantly create a desolate and chilling atmosphere without needing too many post-processing effects, making it a perfect spot for this Wasteland style cosplay.
To capture this dynamic action shot, I deliberately lowered my body's center of gravity and struck a highly expressive crouching pose. The design of this costume features intricate white embroidery patterns, forming a sharp contrast with the primary black tone. When striking this pose, the skirt hem naturally flies up, beautifully showcasing the skirt's sense of layering. Additionally, the color of the soles on these classic black glossy high-heeled long boots is also key. To be honest, wearing these stiletto heels and long boots to strike such a low stance in ruins full of gravel and metal wires poses a real test to knee core strength and ankle stability. My legs did feel a bit sore after holding the pose for a long time, but these challenges can be overcome for the final good-looking photos.
Securing the wig and blindfold is another detail that required mutual cooperation with the photographer. Because we needed to present a flowing look as if blown by the wind or after swinging a sword in front of the lens, the hairstyle couldn't be made too rigid, but we also had to ensure it wouldn't shift and block the line of sight under intense actions during this Action photography session. When shooting, I'm used to keeping my center of gravity low and using the sword-swinging motion of my hands to drive the force of my upper body, making the muscle lines of my waist and shoulders look tight and powerful under the wrap of the black garment while maintaining steady eyes and posture.
Regarding weapons, holding these two samurai swords—one long and one short—the wrapped texture of the handles boasts high accuracy, and they feel quite substantial in hand. During the shoot, I had to pay attention to the direction and angle of the blades to prevent reflections from looking cluttered on camera. The photographer chose an excellent backlighting angle, which not only preserved the gloomy sky of the background and the distant ruined walls but also cast sunlight onto the blades and my white hair, forming a strong rim light. Those broken spherical mechanical enemies scattered by my feet, with their shell damage details and internal mechanical structures, were shot very clearly. Combined with my movements, it looks like a split second right after clearing the battlefield.
For this kind of 2D wasteland sci-fi theme Action photography, a real environmental feel often carries more storytelling than a studio shoot. Although it was very dusty and the ground underfoot was uneven, being able to freeze the coolness and fighting spirit belonging to this character in this ruined city that feels like a lost world is a very special experience. This time, I didn't choose too many exaggerated effects but relied on costume details, a real environment, and action poses to restore the warrior image fighting in solitude during the apocalypse in my mind. Looking through the raw photos after the shoot, I can genuinely feel the heaviness and beauty of confronting machines under the wasteland.
