The theme of this shoot is Ganyu from Genshin Impact. I've always loved the gentleness and earnestness of this character, so I decided to set up a slightly classical Chinese scene indoors to recreate her casual daily leisure. The wig is a specially customized ice-blue gradient, and I spent a long time adjusting that ahoge on top of my head, hoping it would stand up naturally. There are many details on the hair accessories; the red horns and golden tassel embellishments were all manually re-secured. To match the character design, I chose a crisp-sounding version for the small bell around my neck, which jingles slightly when I move, adding a bit of dynamic fun.
As for the costume, this white modified qipao style actually heavily tests one's figure and posture, especially with the fluffy design on the shoulders and the off-the-shoulder cut; it needs to look lightweight without appearing bloated. I used hidden snaps inside to secure it and prevent the fabric from slipping around. The black velvet gloves on my hands and the straps on my legs also correspond to the original art design. The overall color palette is blue, white, black, and red, which coordinates beautifully with the cherry blossom screen and the wooden tea table in the background. The photographer's control over the lighting was very comfortable. Instead of using a harsh, glaring white light, they used a softbox to simulate the natural light filtering through the window, giving the skin a richer texture.
During the shoot, I mimicked Ganyu's slightly lazy yet focused expression. When holding the teacup, I subconsciously lightened my movements, as if I were truly enjoying a pot of fresh tea on a certain afternoon in Liyue Harbor. The difficulty of this look lies in how to balance the grandeur with a daily life feel. After all, Ganyu usually just drops onto her desk to sleep quite casually, so when posing, I didn't deliberately chase after a high-and-mighty ethereal goddess vibe. Instead, I tried to relax my shoulders as much as possible to make myself look more approachable, like an interaction between friends. In post-processing, I asked the editor to preserve some skin texture instead of over-smoothing it, making the photos look more realistic and breathable. Especially the gaze in the close-up shots—I feel it successfully conveys the character's steady yet slightly dazed personality. Every time I engage in cosplay roleplay, it's a process of re-understanding the 2D character. From props to makeup, hair, and emotions, every element needs to align. This can be considered my sincere interpretation of the character. I hope everyone can see the care I put into this set of photos, presenting Ganyu's unique charm of being both reliable and adorable in front of the lens.
