When shooting this black-and-white bride styling, we mainly wanted to highlight the strong contrast between the two forms of black and white, as well as the combination of elegance and toughness in the character design. With many layers of lace on the costumes, creating beautiful highlights and shadows under strong outdoor sunlight was very achievable. The most prominent feature of both outfits is the thigh-high Stockings design; the black and white Stockings materials produce distinct reflections under sunlight, which was a key detail we focused on capturing during the shoot. We chose an outdoor plaza with a metal grate ceiling as the shoot location. The geometric lines overhead were very sharp and structured; utilizing this architectural layout combined with low-angle upward shots elongated leg proportions effectively and gave the overall posture greater visual impact. The giant weapon props were quite heavy, making crossed-sword poses or single-leg balancing poses a real test of stamina and mutual coordination. We adjusted the synchronization multiple times, and while exhausting, the final outcome was well worth it. Gear-wise, we used a Sony A7C2, relying on Sony straight out of camera without complex color grading. Thanks to its excellent color science, skin tones were rendered naturally. We paired it with a 7Artisans lens, whose wide-angle resolving power preserved the metallic weapon textures and lace details cleanly without noticeable edge distortion. With heavy foot traffic around the convention, we kept the camera as low as possible to avoid cluttered crowds in the background and used ground perspective to guide the visual focal point. The black stockings of the Black Bride and the white stockings of the White Bride created completely distinct visual dynamics under the sharp shadows cast by the metal grate. Throughout the shoot, photographer Mo Qiufeng provided very professional posing guidance, constantly reminding us to adjust our center of gravity and maintain focus in our eyes, which resulted in these expressive Convention photos. The black-and-white twin combination required exceptionally high precision regarding costume details and weapon placement, and the resulting shots look truly striking, making for a deeply satisfying outdoor convention shoot. I hope these authentic records convey the full atmosphere of this styling. Talking about the shooting process that day, the outfits actually had numerous accessories—especially the multi-layered pleats on the bottom of the skirts and headpieces, which easily got messy during movement and needed constant tidying. Furthermore, the greatswords themselves were heavy; holding them with both hands while striking crossed poses or lifting legs demanded tremendous core strength. To prevent sword tips from touching the ground or hitting frame edges, the photographer continuously fine-tuned camera positions and focal lengths. Luckily, the Sony A7C2 focused rapidly, crisply capturing motions even in continuous burst shooting. The perspective distortion from the 7Artisans wide-angle lens perfectly flattered body proportions, which, paired with a slight forward lean, made legs look even longer. During shooting, we also experimented with the on-site striped shadows to add depth and make the textures of the black-and-white costumes stand out even more. Despite the noisy convention environment, finding angles and posing beneath the canopy was an enjoyable process where every shutter press captured the tension and beauty of this styling. Beyond expressing the core qualities of the character, this twin black-and-white look incorporated our interpretation of different facets of the character through contrasting fabric textures, aiming to deliver a distinct visual impression. Temperatures were high on the day of the shoot, making it tough to wear heavy costumes and handle props, but seeing the satisfying results swept away all our fatigue.
