[Arturia cosplay] A Melody Woven from Notes and Fragments

When shooting this Arturia cosplay (Virtuosa cosplay) from Arknights, the most crucial aspect to capture was the sense of detachment and control hidden behind her music and order. For this shoot, we selected a cool-toned realistic studio filled with geometric lines. The giant clock in the background, the classical white sculptures below, and the suspended black fragments together formed a tightly structured visual space. As for the outfit, I wore an intricately designed layered black dress fitting a Gothic style cosplay, crafted from fabric with fine pleats and subtle patterns, complete with semi-sheer tulle patchwork on the chest and cuffs. Paired with matching black stockings and high heels, this Black stockings cosplay created a striking textural contrast under the cool-toned lighting. To complement the gown, I had to maintain an upright posture throughout, ensuring that the leg lines and the drape of the hemline remained crisp and clean in frame. What demanded the most physical endurance was holding the custom stylized cello and bow. The instrument features a metallic texture with intricate openwork lines, which, combined with the long bow, carries noticeable weight. To avoid looking clumsy, I had to repeatedly tweak the tilt of my body throughout the shoot, coordinating with the suspended fragments prepared in advance by prop maker Wo You Yi Ba Dao to unify these elements into a cohesive whole. The first wide shot introduces the setting; the second medium shot better showcases facial expressions and the complete look of the black stockings styling; and the third profile close-up was deliberately captured against backlighting, letting beams of light pass through the hair to form a gorgeous cool-white contour. During the shoot, I communicated extensively with photographer Yansi ooo. To achieve the optimal lighting balance, we adjusted the light sources across multiple positions to ensure the face, shoulders, and neck achieved a clean, translucent depth without overexposure. The session took quite a while because of the continuous micro-adjustments to my posture. The cello had to rest at just the right angle, and the direction of the bow needed to follow the trajectory of the drifting fragments. I constantly smoothed out folds in the skirt to prevent any awkward distortions from movement. While sets with custom props and elaborate scene setups involve tedious prep work, they offer far more room for creative expression during shooting. In particular, mastering that calm yet dangerous gaze required briefly emptying my mind, focusing solely on the lens and the atmosphere. Reviewing the playback on camera at the end made all the physical and expressive effort feel worthwhile. The cool detachment and storytelling conveyed by these photos fully reflect my understanding of the character before the shoot. This collaboration truly let me experience the unique aesthetic where elegance and icy detachment coexist.
