Standing under the direct midday light on a street, looking at the clear silhouette I left on the white wall, it unexpectedly matched the theme of this Tsukihime Arcueid Brunestud cosplay shoot. That sense of slight bewilderment, yet also a cool detachment that seems to have seen through everything, is exactly what I wanted to convey to everyone through these photos.
To maintain this casual vibe, I chose the simplest and most classic combination for my clothing. The pure white, semi-high collar slim-fit base shirt is not only clean and crisp, but also nicely outlines the upper body lines. Paired with the classic black pleated skirt and thick black tights, it preserves the character's signature look while adding daily wearability. This Black tights outfit is highly versatile.
Speaking of the essence of this outfit, the focus lies on the elongation of the leg lines. The black tights combined with mid-calf brown lace-up leather boots introduce a sense of restraint from uniforms, while visually tightening the lower body. This combination greatly helped merge the character's cool tone with the street atmosphere, presenting a natural and dashing feel on camera.
In terms of makeup and styling, to restore that innate temperament, I used a Short blonde hair wig. The most soulful part is that randomly curled cowlick on top of my head, which wiggles slightly with my movements. Paired with light-colored contacts, a highly translucent base makeup, and slightly reddish lips, I tried to express that seemingly innocent yet story-filled character trait through micro-expressions.
For the shooting locations, we chose highly everyday outdoor settings. Dark wooden fences, a clean asphalt road surface, and that white wall all added a lot of everyday life atmosphere to this set of photos. Natural light played a highly important role here—especially in the set by the white wall, where the strong sunlight formed sharp geometric shadows on the ground, echoing the character and creating tension within a minimalist composition. This high contrast under strong light and shadow instead made the eyes look deeper.
Some of the poses were subconscious reactions to being squinted by the sun, such as raising my arm to shield my brow, while others were simply leaning casually against the roadside railing to watch the scenery. This unpretentious, unforced sense of relaxation that doesn't deliberately cater to the camera is indeed a rare and wonderful gain from this set. Every single step here, and every stir of the Short blonde hair, was captured spontaneously by the photographer. I was highly happy to complete this shoot with the photographer, and specially made this post to record the original character atmosphere of this Casual cosplay.
When the sunlight fell on the folds of the white top and the hem of the black pleated skirt, it truly felt as if I were experiencing this ordinary daily afternoon from the character's perspective. Although it was just a brief stop in the lens, that silent sense of companionship has already been frozen in the frame.
